Might be buying a 94 FJ80
I was just wondering if you guys had any quick things I should look for when checking this thing out. It's a 94 with front and rear lockers. It has 173K on the clock. I've searched but can't seem to find out if there were any problems I should be aware of and watch out for such as drivetrain and engine problems (i.e. TSB's, recalls, common re-occuring problems). It already has a lift via OME and an ARB on the front.

Check out Christo Slee's 80 Series Newbie Guide. It has info on inspecting a used truck and differences between 80-series model years.

Whoa, that looks awesome! That is exactly what I am looking for, too. How much do they want for that? Anyway, you will want to check and see if there is an unusually long delay when you try to engage the lockers and try to find out when the axles and brakes were last serviced if you can. I also second going to Slee's site, a lot of good information there. Also check out http://www.ih8mud.com/, too.

I agree that does sound a little high especially considering that this one just sold on eBay for a little over $8000 and it is very similar:

I agree with you 100% and I would do the same exact thing in your position. I just think he wants too much, as you said, if it is sitting that long he should get a clue. But I guess he is ready to let it sit, so wait him out. Keep us posted...

$10,500's a pretty fair price given the year, miles, OME, and ARB. Not to mention whatever flavor of half-rack he has up there. If it's clean inside and out someone's going to snap that one up -- especially with the lockers.
But...you're in no rush, so...whateva...

I'm not saying it's not a fair price, but he's had the thing for 2 months and it hasn't moved yet, so i'm sure he'll be willing to make a deal soon. There isn't a real market for that vehicle around here as most people don't care about the lift, the ARB, the Surco, or the lockers for that matter. Most people see a 12 year old SUV with a 173K miles and an almost $11K price tag in the window.
