LC noob has another question...
i just bought a 80 series .(is 1993 a 80?) my remote is an OEM Toyota remote...but it has been to hell and back (or so that's what it looks like). the key loop has broken off, and it was glued to a viper rear case so it can hang on a chain. I'd like to get a replacement, but replacements apparently cost a fortune.. would it be possible to snag a Toyota remote off eBay and ask the dealer to reprogram it to my Anti-Theft system??

There have been a couple posts related to this... I believe all you have to do is make sure you buy the right remote off of Ebay and you can do the reprogramming yourself.
Bob's got a write-up on this:

Do you know what kind of alarm it is?
I think I would just call up my local dealer and ask the service manager. Either that or keep a hunt on Ebay until the right part came around.

He's got the TDS alarm which is what came factory on my 4runner and my step-mom's '96 LC. You can buy replacement cases for like $10-15 at the dealer or you can get a replacement remote for like $35. It's very easy to reprogram if you go with the full replacement. If it works fine then I would just buy the case.

then i'm guessing i need to buy the exact same replacement... i was kinda going for the idea of using a newer remote with two buttons instead of one..
(of course...i won't die using a single button remote)
