Help with '94 Yota LC Price/Purchase
Howdy.
I have my very much loved '86 SR5 truck, and now the GF would like to get her own 4x4. She really likes the Jeep XJs and the Yota Land Cruisers.
I found this '94 LC locally and I need some help figuring out what a fair offer on the car would be. The guy has it listed at $7,000, and it seams like it may be a bit high to me. I was hoping some more experienced people could give me their opinions.
Some Stats:
'94
219000 miles
auto trans
factory lockers
factory jump seats
ARB bumper and some lights
I dont know much more from his add but here are some pictures.
What do you guys think I could counter offer? I dont want to try and low ball the guy, but I dont want to over pay ether.
Thanks!

It has the diff locks. It's a good deal around 7K. Get him as low as you can though.
Those are probably the best 4x4 Toyota ever brought to the US. There very well built and there is a wealth of knowledge on Ih8mud.com.
That is a rare one. It hasn't been modded up yet like lifts and such, but has the ARB and lights.
If you buy it, look up PHH (pesky heater hose) and how to test the HG. Lots of reading.
Good find.

Seats will be easy to get. All your answers and parts will be through mud.
There are two Toyota parts guys that know these trucks inside and out. Cruiserdan and Beno on mud probably have every part number memorized...an invaluable resourse.

Looks like we just missed a good deal. I asked if we could come look at it in the morning and the guy said he already had some one who wanted to buy it. POOP

I wouldn't have paid $7k for that rig. I look at cruisers in my area every week because I want one and frequently see better deals. At that price the rig would usually be newer than 94 or come with many upgrades already. I recently saw a FULLY built 80 for like $9k in the Bay Area and it sold in a day. Unfortunately those who have elocker cruisers think it's made of gold and up the price. Find a cheaper one and put stronger arbs in there while you regear.
If it's for your girl, have you considered a 100-series? They are getting down into the $6-8k range for the 98-00 years and it is a much nicer on-road vehicle that can still go the same places as a stock 80. If your purpose is to make a straight up wheeler to test its durability then for sure get the 80.
Also look at ih8mud for buying info and their cruiser classifieds.

Yeah. Thing is it's not for me. I'd like a built LC but my GF likes the clean stick look better. Also I'm not new to buying used cars and my lessons have taught me that that modified cars/trucks are not to be trusted. You never know if the person doing to mods was qualified and you could very easily get stuck with a POS. It's better to get a stock car and do things correctly the way you want them. I'm over chasing other people's goof ups. I'd rather goof them up myself. lol

True on the theory of buying questionably built rigs, you never know what the PO did - but in defense of newer cruisers, they have always held a higher status and price tag than your more abundant pickup and 4runners, so those who owned them typically wouldn't cheap out on upgrades and do shoddy work to their $60k vehicle. I would say the theory also applies to vehicles with multiple owners. Keep looking, the deal will come.
