Finally got her painted!

Finally got her painted!
Well, after hours of prep, I finally got my fj40 painted. What a process, especially for this being the first vehicle I ever sprayed! My dad made it look so much easier when I was a kid helping him out. At any rate, I used a HVLP gun from Harbor Freight, spraying PPG Delstar Dune Beige paint. Spraying at only 10 PSI, I was amazed at how little paint is wasted. There isn't nearly as much paint aerosol that gets in the air, which really helped with fumes. You can see from picture I attached that I didn't have a whole lot of room to work in. I wore a tyvek suit and respirator with organic fume filters, and had fans to keep moving air in my "booth" which I coated with sheets of plastic. There are some serious runs in the paint in a few spots where I laid it on too thick, due to my own inexperience. These will have to be worked out later after the paint is hardened. At any rate, it isn't perfect, but its mine, and I have the satisfaction of tackling it on my own!

Thanks guys. I'll post some more pics once I get her unmasked and bolt the exterior accessories back on. I'm pretty jazzed about getting the painting done. Since March of this year, I've finished the interior, and now finally the exterior, so its ready for mechanical mods now.....

Thanks guys. I'll be bolting stuff back on tomorrow with any luck, and will get some more pictures up.
The doors got completely hosed with paint in the process of trying to figure out the HVLP paint gun, so I'd need some pretty big-ass stickers. Sanding is about the only option at this point...
For the local guys who only saw it while Chrisco owned it, or never saw it at all, its pretty close to an unveiling. Almost time for another mexican food get-together, isn't it?

Thanks guys! Everything is bolted back on, so here's some updated photos. The last pic is to show off the Corbeau bucket seats that are setup for 5-point harnesses in the future.

Looks good David. Pseudo-Mexican food is always good by me and I'd love to see the rig, so name a time when you are ready. My 4runner and Sawz-all are getting to know each other so there would be too many pieces right now to put back together, but I'm sure I can find something to drive.
