Those are the 33's from the 4runner as Jim noticed. Without any lift, I couldn't take it offroad at the moment without major rubbing. The current plan is for 4-6" of lift, run the 33's (on 16" rims) until they wear out, then upgrade to 35's on the stock 15" rims. Big decision is figuring out which lift to run, at this point it will either be OME or I'll go SOA, which would be a better articulating suspension for offroading, but requires some fab work to be done properly, including cutting and turning the knuckles on the front axle. I also need a new garage so that it'll fit after lifting....

 

Hey, its been quite a while since I've posted, but after seeing the work you put into that FJ, I thought I had better step up and congratulate you.

I remember the pics of when you started, it was very similar to mine. I'm wondering if you're going to do what I did as I was finishing up. I ended up buying a 100 and put off my next 40 project for a while.

Now that you're wrapping it up, has it inspired you to

A: do another 40
B: Try an 80 or 100
C: or just be grateful that it complete and enjoy it for a while?

Thanks Doug! As far as my next set of plans, I'll be focusing on more mechanical mods now that the body work (in/out) is mostly complete as far as I'm concerned. I've got a front mini-truck axle waiting to do the front disc brake conversion, still contemplating going to a TH350 automatic tranny, and possibly spring-over. I'm in the process of buying a house, so I can't tear into it- it needs to be running until I can park it in the new driveway. I have tossed around the idea of picking up a newer LC, but I've still got plenty to do on the current project. Looks like you went route A based on your signature....
