1991 Land Cruiser ? / ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

HEY Guys ___ Going to look at a 91 Land Cruiser soon ,it has 213,000 miles, Auto, air ,sun roof, original owner asking $6,300, I think it has a straight 6 in it. Question is : Is it a good year ,I know the engine is weak ,compared to the later models, but still ,how does the drive train compare to the 92-95 models (transfer case ,trans., axels ,and differentials, also how are the geared compared to the 92-95 models? Also I,m not sure how the Center Locking Differential is engaged ,do the all (92-95) engage electronically like I think this one, doesbut it has a lever for high/low. Anyway need some input. _____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

Hey Cebby _____ When you were milling over the 80s situation for yourself, what were the criteria’s your were wrestling with, and where did you go with it, particular if you were considering a 91? ____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

I'm still investigating it, but I'm looking at either a 96 or 97. It will be the wife's DD. I want it to have the 4.5 motor, airbags, and leather. Aside from that, maybe the diff locks as an option (since I'll eventually get it as a hand me down). It will get a mild build up when the wife has it though

ARB lockers are available for both axles on the 91. The body is the same from 91-97 IIRC. I haven't read about the trannies being that much different. I did read that there were a very few HG problems with the later years (95-97).

I've been doing alot of reading over at www.IH8MUD.com
