Towing with your 2wd?

How often do you guys tow with your 2wd, and what are you usually hauling?

Good ? I can pick it up and move it around by hand with all my tools in it... I need to put it on the scale.

Any idea what a 94 2wd could tow? I see what the manual says, but more curious what others have done in the real world.

It will tow anything...I would be more concerned about stopping.

I think "Anything" is a stretch....

but yes, stopping is the toughest part with these smaller trucks

I knew somebody would say something Yes, I should have worded that a lil different. How bout'... It will tow a lot...
I have towed with every 22r that ive owned and Ive never been let down. Dont expect to go jamin' up steep grades in 4th gear.
Use common sense... If you dont have any of that then make sure you read and follow the weight ratings. Anyways, stopping power is MUCH more important then most people think.

I wish I knew the weight of the trailer load of wood from a tree we cut down. It was a 12' trailer, single axle. It was definitely overloaded, must have been 4000 lbs or more. My rear leaves were almost completely flat and the trailer axle was starting to bow.

I couldn't get out of 3rd gear, and couldn't go over about 50 mph. I had to be very careful because my stopping distances were absurdly long.

I was incredibly stressed driving down to the wood yard.

I have no trouble towing my 2 waverunners, my 5x8 utility trailer with my mowers, or mulch or scrap or what not. I don't think any of that weighs more than 2500 lbs or so.

ive done the same thing, but it was raining. it sucked tryin to stop that thing. i had to pull off the road to keep from hitting somebody that stopped short in front of me. with some better brakes i wouldnt be worried about it.

I'd LOVE to do the Front range full floater conversion and disc brake swap.

Maybe get some slotted rotors. I'd be stopping like a boss.

2500lbs is the overall weight, or what you haul?

What are some brake upgrades that can be done without too much hassle? Any larger toyota brakes that easily swap over? I'm assuming I'd need to upgrade the wheels to account for the new offset.

I don't really know what is out there for 2 wheel drives. I know that the full floater kit uses supra calipers on the rear, but I don't know if it (The calipers, not the full floater kit) would work for a 2 wheel drive.

I would think you could do the master cylinder upgrade, I'd have to search for the details.

I'm thinking that my overall trailer loads are 2000 to 2500 lbs.
