Sannoman's 1983 2WD Pickup Build-Up Thread

So I got really into old Toyotas around April 2010. So I started looking at my Dad's old 1983 2wd. It was used for a trash holder. (Biggest Mistake Ever) So I got it started after sitting there for almost a year. I was pretty excited, so i started working on it. I will take any advice and opinions on it. =)

Here she is when I started.

Took the bed off about 3 weeks ago to get to the frame. The bed is rotted out. I am planning on replacing the whole bottom.

Heres the frame after I painted it. I should of put up pics before I painted.

Heres the bed

I want to get an entire new bottom for the bed... I know some people that will give me a good deal. Basically all I'm doing is just redoing everything on it...

So today I've done alot to the truck. I put new gas lines in and i put the bed back on after about 4 1/2 months.

Pics before the bed came on.

Pics with bed on

Bolts I used to mount bed.

The bed was alot easer to put on than i thought it was.

you'll want to build or make a "lobe" for those bolts .. like factory

I know putting the new bolts is easy at first , but if you EVER want to remove it again .. you'll wish you would have done it ..

My Senior Project. Learned how to weld, and for my final product, I welded a new bottom piece to a pickup that was EXTREMELY RUSTED!! Over 55 hours spent on entire proccess of learning to weld and welding in new bottom piece. Enjoy....

Getting ready to cut out metal.

Bed all cut up for new metal

Me grinding down metal.

Reason for cutting out bed.

Tacked welded most of the support beams.

Welding

Putting in corner piece.

Finishing up the job!

DONE!!

Finishing bed mock fabrication.

Front of bed, tack welded up.

Tail gate with some cancer.

Plans are to cut out cancer and put strip of metal on and weld it, and paint that strip the color of yellow on "toyota".

what you guys think of my tail plan??

Looks great! That bed looks like it's already the most solid it's probably been in decades.
