rough idle abd bogging with moisture?

hey guys, i have a 91 2wd pickup with the 22re, heres the deal...it always runs great unless its wet, if the dirt roads are wet or if i go through a decent size puddle it bogs. when i hold like half throttle it will just bog and accelerate extremely slow, then when it hits a certain rpm it will surge and run good, but it only runs good/normal when its in high rpms, and when its idling it will idle sortof rough and sometimes spudder, but when i run it on pavement for a while and it drys some, its back to normal. i know it has to do with moisture becuase it will run good untill i hit a big puddle then it instantly starts the bogging. i pulled of my cap and stuff and im pretty sure its good, the only otherthing i could figure is my 02 sensor is not on it or hooked up. anyone got any ideas?

I am almost positive that water/moisture is getting into your distributor cap or you have exposed wiring to the coil.

I had the exact same problem. I had a loose/cracked TPS connector and the O2 sensor had frayed wiring - I fixed both at the same time, and my problem cleared.

That's not to say that superex87 is wrong, I first thought distributor and/or coil too. But if those check out, make sure you've got good wires on your O2 and TPS.

I am having the exact same problem. It occasionally happens when I wash my truck too. It's deffinetly not a wet distributor. Like Kawasaki said, it boggs out only up to a certain rpm (around 3000 on mine) then it's full power and running smooth. I doubt it's the o2 sensor as it's ignored at wide open throttle. Mine is also only a couple months old. If I had to guess I would say its running lean, on mine I could fix the idle by manually opening the AFM. I'll take a look at the TPS on mine tomorrow and let you know how it works out.

So the TPS is working fine. I did notice that my windshield leak is a little worse than I thought. My fuse block behind the drivers kick panel was completely soaked! I'm thinking that water is shorting something under the dash. I never got a chance to look too far into it and my truck is running fine now that the rain has stopped. Im going to try resealing the windshield and hope that fixes it. I'll keep you posted.

My driver side carpet always gets wet by the fuse box. I'm gonna try sealing mine up too, did it help?

Since resealing my windsheild I haven't had the issue. I removed the trim on the interior and ran a bead of silicone all the way around.
