93YotaGuy's '91 2WD Build Up 'Back from the grave"

A couple of weeks ago I was looking for a topper for my truck and came across this beast.

I went to go look at the topper and while doing so I inquired about the truck. The guy mentioned that it had been broken for about 8 months and that he was planning on taking it to the junkyard within a couple of weeks. Long story short I was able to talk him down to $125!!!! for the truck! ))))

As you can see she is not the prettiest yota around but with a little TLC she'll be up and running in no time.

Anyway, So the guy mentioned that he had redone the "timing belt", head gasket, and guide about 3 months before it broke down. He suspected that "the timing belt got loose and broke".

First thing I did when I got home is started to figure out what was going on. The motor turned over fine but was not getting any fuel. I replaced the fuel filter and she fired up after much hesitation.

Here's a look of the damage I am dealing with.

so all it needed to get running was a $2 fuel filter? I guess the cap was included for the $125? How much was he originally asking just for the cap?

Next, I got to work on the interior.

I was able to get the old seat that was in my 4wd from my parents basement a couple of days ago and put it in. HUGE improvement.

He was asking $100 for the topper. So I basically walked away with a topper for 100 and a truck for $25!

Now the truck doesn't run all that great. Since it was sitting for so many months and the guy kept trying to start it for a week straight. I suspect that the injectors are toast. Anyhow, since it bugs me to have it not run perfect I tore it apart this morning. So far this is where I'm at.

I sent the injectors off to Witchhunter Performance this morning and the intake and plenum to a local shop that is going to clean them up and bead blast them for me.

Tomorrow i'll probably head to the junkyard so I can fix this mess.

I was able to go down to the junkyard this morning and pick up a new fuse box and harness. Very simple to put in, just a little time consuming.

PROGRESSSSSS

She sure does clean up nice! :-D

If you are putting the cap on the white truck in the background...I will gladly take that roll bar off your hands for the cost of shipping!

Ha! No, I think i'll leave the rollbar on and just leave the topper where it sits. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to do otherwise though.

Nice score on the pickup!! I paid $650 for my 93 with a lot more body damage, but it runs great and has a decent interior. If you think your front end was busted up, you should see mine, the bumper is held on with bailing wire and an extension cord. The hood was held down with bungees, but I fixed the latch after the hood flew up on me at 70mph.

Nice truck.

In the future please add one picture per line as it makes your posts extremely hard to view.

Thanks.
