Highlux's got a Taco now!

2001 Prerunner. 4cyl auto.

Picked this up a couple months ago to use to commute back and forth to jobsites after I've got materials and tools delivered with the big guzzler 06 e350 superduty extended van. The van gets about 13 mpg. This one seems to do low 20's mpg.

I do Tile and hardwood floors, custom tile showers and such. Bout 22 years worth...lol. I was looking for a Tacoma..4cyl..auto. Found this one after a long search. The shell was a bonus. Nice tires. Super clean. No rust.
Interior really nice. Had 157k on it.

Only thing done so far was to get some new headlights...the stockers were
really fogged up.

The factory radio blows...prolly be my first real upgrade.
Also...the front seems a little bumpy...prerunner thing?

But seriously, let me know if you see any 4Runners, there's a few bits I'm looking for on the cheap.

Mightymouse has a source, but it's mostly older stuff.

And you prolly already know http://www.car-part.com/ , I've not used it, but there you go.

If it rides bad my guess would be it's still got the original SHOCKS.

Wabbit...it rides real nice...just has a "light" feel to the front end.
It does have the original bilstiens, I suppose the same shocks would make a good replacement?

Wow. Actually something to do to the taco. Poor little truck has only got a couple k on it since I got her. Since I have been hurt its been sitting. Plates are up and I got engine light on. My brother was down a few weeks ago and hooked his laptop up. Its rear o2.

Ordered a denso from amazon. Like $50. Half price of Autzone anf the like.
Amazing how much you can save by actually planning this stuff ahead of time.

Gotta call the dealer and check on a couple stainless nuts.

Here where it gets funny. Ever since the wife went to the junkyard...she's feeling cocky. (she took off a overflow bottle) She's gonna do the o2 sensor. She's out there soaking the nuts on the sensor.

There was a youtube video/slideshow we watched to prep her.

She's gonna take pics so I can be her eyes. I moved around too much yesterday and I can barely move today.

Gonna be interesting.

She also...confessed a secret desire to weld out of the blue last night.
Serious enough to consider a class.

Im kinda shocked.

Taco still been sitting. Need to get the o2 on. Im going to make it my mission to do this tomorrow.

Hate having it sitting there with expired tags. Miss driving it.

One goal is to get the camper shell off and bedline the bed at some point this summer.

Im going to toss a bunch of carpet pad down on the garage floor and see if I can do this without killing myself.

Every time a buddy says they are gonna do it for me something comes up.

Then I can get it inspected.

Cross your fingers.

Just buy another truck Dave. You must have room in your driveway and you need another project anyway

OH IM itchin to buy something...but momma want s to be conservative until the back deal is worked out. Been eyeing fj's and new tacomas.

Well I managed to get under the tacoma. Wrestled the shield off...got the o2 nuts off with a little effort...they were toast. I stopped by dealer earlier today and got a couple nuts. Suprised the wiring went up into the cab and plugged in under the seat carpet. But ok. Reset computer and headed to autozone for some wipers.

Dang light came on. Was the heater circuit for the front o2. Why did I think it was the rear? I pulled the damn code before.

Oh well. Ill order a denso front o2.

Was suprised how great my frame is. A little tiny rust here and there. It def is time to coat it though. Just to be safe.

Was clean as a dang whistle under there actually...I was stunned.

We will see how the pain gods punish me for doing stuff I shouldn't tomorrow. Good chance I wont be able to move...lol.

I really do love that little taco...hell I love em all.

Funny thing is, I want more toyotas of course...but I am not willing to part with any I have. Seem to be in a conundrum.

Found a super deal on the forward o2.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251443844686

80 bucks shipped. Denso 234-9001

Be a few days to get here.

Buddy is coming over in a bit to hang and blast stuff...I can barely move from my rear o2 install yesterday. I know it will hurt the next day....yet still I do it. Maybe I'm stubborn?

I did notice she has the billstein shocks on here still from the factory.

I may paint some centercaps today.

And of course...the irony factor kicks in...my buddy text me..."oh I'm gonna do that o2 sensor for you while i am out today."

Self facepalm.
