Wreck on Christmas

I was on my way to see my family. I was doing about 80mph on IH-35N in New Braunfels. I am not sure why or how but a Jeep Liberty slammed into my rear driver's side quarter panel. I spun out and went down the highway sideways at 80mph. I thought I was gonna roll. But I guess due to Toyota's engineering and someone up above was looking out for me. I ended up against the wall facing the wrong way after I stopped. Still not sure how he slammed into me from the side on the highway.
There is rubber all over my flares from the tires while they were smoking.
The hatch is jammed and break lights and turn signals don't work on that side.

Glad to hear that there were no injuries. I have done sideways slides on snow at 30 MPH and freaked out - I cannot imagine what 80 MPH sideways down a highway must feel like

70mph gets you ran off the road on an interstate like this in TX. 80mph keeps you flowing good with traffic...that is untill you get near a suicidal liberty

It appears there are only two skid marks for the most part because I had two wheels in the air. The Liberty was jacked. Smashed and blown out tires etc. Rear axle looked crooked. Hard to tell. I was so pissed that someone almost killed me on Xmas I kept my distance. He looked cocky and I knew if I went over there I'd be going to jail. I stayed in the middle of the center divider with my truck.

Wow! You got really lucky. I hate driving I-35, in fact I almost refuse to do it unless absolutely necessary. Next time take 281/290! Good luck getting that all fixed up!

I’m a Commercial Driver I see at least one accident happen every week. People drive to dam fast.
First I’m glad your OK you and your family are lucky or blessed you are not be hurt or dead.
Second “SLOW DOWN” don’t speed if you were going 80 miles per hour your as much at fault as the shmuck in the Jeep.
Look man if you slowed down by 15MPH for an hour trip it only an extra 13.8 min. you save money, tires, Gas, and a lot less stress on your car and you. And no tickets.
Speed kills 65 miles per hour = 96 feet a second. It takes 1.4 seconds to see a problem and put your foot on the break. That’s 134 feet of travel “before you start” to break then add how long that takes.

That’s why I have my fun in the dirt

What a ride! At least y'all are ok, and he got it worse than you. We have stupid drivers up here on our end of 35 too. I watched one guy hit the wall a few weeks ago because he was texting. He almost hit a Grayhound

Thanks for everyones concerns and well wishes. However keep in mind I was simply keeping with the flow of traffic. I was not weaving or anything like that. I feel that people driving too slow can be even more dangerous when they are disrupting the flow of traffic and creating a bottleneck. I don't see how it just as much my fault because I was doing 10 over the speed limit (more like 7 cause I know my speedo marks 3mph faster) I wasn't the one who slammed my vehicle into another one. I still don't know what the hell he did. It was clear and dry, moderate traffic and a straight-a-way. Guess thats why he drives a jeep liberty and not a 4runner.

I live in NW sa. Drivers here are so damn ignorant and agressive. You will see people do everything they can do to keep someone from merging and they drive slow in the left lane. If you change lanes to pass, they speed up. Everytime it rains there are hundreds of accidents and the whole city gridlocks. When we get ice on those rare occasions you still see people cruising at 60 then you see later planted against a wall.

flow of traffic only is relevant as long as you do not exceed the posted speed limit. its for bad weather and traffic, because most highways also have minimum speeds limits . Ask a cop.

Sorry man Don't want to sound like a state trooper but I take driving very seriously.

Each of us should know where every car around us is at all times.

Check out the smith driving system http://www.smith-system.com/

yeah i constantly check my mirrors and thats why I always let people pass and make sure no one is riding in my blind spot. One of the people in the witness's car said it look like he flew in the middle lane next to me and lost control slamming into me. That's why I am saying I don't know where he came from. I always keep aware of my surroundigs. Missed many close calls due to this.
