Hey! Mine too!!! But I did hit 80 a few times, once was with the a/c on but going downhill. I usually cruise at around 70. Its too dang hard to keep it at 75

98runner: maybe he had a blowout?

Wish I could say I never had an accident, But I can't. I wish I could say none were ever my fault, But I can't.
It's just that a lot of accidents can be avoided if you drive like your life depends on it. witch it does and almost accidents if we all did.

Sounds like your not responsible for this one.

BUT!
you could have seen it coming and maybe reacted before you got hit.

honestly what were you doing just before you got hit?

Distracted Driving is the second cause of accidents. on the phone/texting , changing the radio or Ipod, talking, eating/ drinking, reading, makeup etc..

Wow, I'm very surprised that you didn't roll. Sucks about the whole thing, but I guess now it's time for a new custom rear bumper!

WTF guy?! I was driving. I wasn't playing with an Ipod or on my phone or anything. I WAS THE ONE HIT! And like I said I do check my mirrors often but you can't keep an eye on your rearend the entire time. Do keep in mind you are moving in the foward direction. And the guy came and slammed me in the rear quarter so it wasn't like he came from in front of me and I could see him coming. So quit assuming I was distracted or driving with my head up my ass. You can't avoid every single accident like you make it seem.

don't get to offended 98Runner. He means well.

Im a pilot, been in a freak accident and drive like my life depends on it and am paranoid as hell to drive passanger with people infact I avoid it at all costs. I know how fast stuff can go down and drive defensively. As a helicopter pilot you learn how to use everything your body has and i adapt it right to the road.

I can't drive 80 (truck wont do it lol) but I i dont think 80 is to fast. I cruise that on I5 south or wherever theres an open stretch and speed limit is 70.

It sucks you got shafted and is amazing you didnt hit nothing crosing all those lanes into the fast lane.

Drive defensively and don't take it for granted. Most people i know drive like they they're taking a dump on a toilet . FOR GRANTED. until you have to take a dump in sub freezing conditions with little T-PEE and lots of clothes on or get smashed by an idiot, you wont drive defensively or responsibly.! =)

Cut the man some slack, he was hit from the rear by a Liberty performing a PIT Maneuver on him. 80 mph is not necessarily a dangerous speed. Staying with the flow of traffic is usually the safest way to travel. Remember that many of our highways were originally designed to be safely driven at 75 mph by 1950's cars with drum brakes & bias ply tires. Most collisions are caused by people not allowing enough distance for the speed they are traveling.

You state that you are a commercial driver. I assume that means that you drive a semi. I know around here that most semis go about 70 mph which is at least 15 mph over their limit anywhere in California.

Yep, semi's drive about 65 - 68 while the legal speed for semi's and autos with trailers is 55 in California. Up in Wyoming I think you can drive 75 with a trailer or Semi or rocket powered bicycle. No matter what speed limit is posted, you are the only one who'll ultimately decide what's safe and live with the concequences.

I'm pissed that the donkey-licker in the Liberty didn't apologize and on top of that looked "cocky", but that's usually how it goes down these days.

I know everything SEMSD said is right. That's why our freaking gov. always has to step in with seatbelt laws, helmet laws, no cell phone while driving laws because too many accidents result from folks that don't know better.

My dad used to say if you took away all the traffic lights and stop signs for a day, a lot of bad drivers would be off the road for good. I guess you guys and I would have to be out wheelin' that day or stay at home think about going wheeling.

P.S. Don't forget that a fellow YotaTech member is down and needs our thoughts and prayers. 1972TLC

I am gratefull that my witness stopped. At least 15 cars swerved to miss me while i was skidding across 3 lanes of traffic. None of them stopped.

You were lucky. Lots of 4Runners have rolled. Toyota has had multiple lawsuits because of it. That's why we have those cone bump stops in the rear springs. 4Runners have the gas tank & driver on the same side so they tend to be left side heavy. If he had tagged your right side, you might have rolled.

Sounds like Mr. Liberty was the one swerving thru traffic on that one. I know exactly where that spot is from the Pics, and 80 is not the norm for most drivers, but on I35 it's mandatory down here if you want to live. I think your'e lucky it had the concrete dividers because the median would have made ya flip. Thank God for witnesses.

Are you telling us that someone hit you from behind on the highway and you did NOTHING to avoid it. What a horrible driver! You should have seen the liberty coming from a mile away, and hit the turbo boost button just before he hit you. That way you could have jumped in the air and he would have gone right under you. You shouldn't even be allowed to own a 4runner! Obviously just kidding, glad you're okay. I think it's hilarious some of these guys are saying it's your fault and you could have avoided it.

I think a fully automated 50 cal. machine gun with a proximity system would make more sense, possibly an auxillary RPG just in case the jeep still keeps coming.
