Why are Tacoma Tie Rods Cheaper?

I was looking at prices for Tie Rods at Conicelli motors and the 3rd Gen 4Runner Tie Rods are $44.47 and the Tacoma Tie Rods are $33.35. What gives? Why is there such a large price difference? Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

Thanks.

So, no one knows the answer to this? Wow...

I will ask my buddy Jay today about this.

Thanks for looking.

I don't know the answer as to why they are more expensive or if they will interchange. When it seems illogical as this, I think that they charge whatever the market will bear instead of what they really cost. 4Runner=upscale SUV...Tacoma=not so upscale.

Just a guess, but domestically built Taco part vs. JDM built 4R part + import duty?

Even aftermarket Taco Tie Rods are cheaper, so that's not it. Good answer though. I just bought some TRW tie rod ends that come with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty.

Thanks for the input guys.

Dr. Z.

Your tie rods went out already? Were they the inners or outers?

The left outer is bad, so I figured I would just go ahead and replace them both.
