where do you put your CB mic?

This is just one of those annoyance type things... but I can't for the life of me find a good place to put my CB mic when I'm not using it. Right now it sits between my tranny/4wd shifters. It rattles and slides around and bugs the crap out of me, but I can't find a better place to put it (i.e. were it won't get sat on, stepped on, etc.).

So, where do you keep your mic when you're not using it? Anyone have a non-permanent solution?

I don't hang mine up on the CB anymore, as it's to far from me.
This is where it's mounted all the time now.

The mic holder from Radio Shack use to be glued to the console with the sticky two way tape that comes with the mic clip, but the heat from the summer ruined it.

The holder came with small screws also, so a month back I drilled into the console fixing it.

If I speak loud enough, I can just leave the mic there and talk clicking the transmit button.
But for better clarity, I take the mic off and rest it on the passenger seat by me.

Easy to grab when you want to yak, even when wheelin'.

I got that little wire thing that comes with the Firestik antennas and snaked that through the plastic guides in my AC vents.

Just put it there once to keep it out the way and it worked well enough that I haven't changed it.

when I'm not using mine, and my antenna is not up, I just disconnect my mic and put it in my center console. Fits pretty good with the coil wrapped up in there. Reason I put it in there is because with my antenna not up, I don't want anybody trying to cue the mic and then blowing my CB.

When I am on an obstacle, it goes on the passenger seat.

When I am on light trail stuff, I drape it over my right leg.

When I am going to the trail, it is in my hand.

When I am done wheeling and back in camp, it goes in the box in the back.

Likely not the answer you were looking for. I just see no point in making a permanent attachment point for it because all the other places work well when I need them to.

I usually wheel without one, but a co-pilot makes a good CB holder, radio talker and such.

My CB is mounted to the underside of the glovebox, and the mic sits in the holder bracket that's riveted into the passenger side of the lower console next to the 5spd shift lever. It's easy to reach, don't have to lean over that much. It's out of the way for me and doesn't seem to bother passengers.

I did not worry about non-permanent mounting because anyone who's looking to buy my truck (if I ever sell it) is not likely to care. Just drill it!

If you have a dash mat, you can put a clip on the back of the mic, and just clip it to the edge of the dashmat. Or, RadioShack has a little mic with a swivel clip on it already.
