I tried Mickey Thompson Classic II's in 16x8 with 4-7/16" backspacing, and they did not clear the calipers on my '96. I have heard that folks with newer 3rd generation 4Runners do not have the same caliper issue. I ended up with similar looking Pro Comp Xtreme Alloys in 16x8 with 4" backspacing. Wheeler's Off-Road (www.wheelersoffroad.com) sells them, though I bought mine through a local shop.

Trial fit 'em and see. Only takes a minute.
It is not always true that if it came with 16" wheels then 15" won't fit. The bigger brakes did not come on all 16" equipped vehicles.
Try them and then you'll know.
