Question What Trans Do I Have?

How can I tell what trans I have? The FSM lists, W56, W55, R150, R150F, G58.

I've got a 4x4 a 5sp and 22r. How do I tell which box I've got?

its listed on your vin plate, should be in the door jamb or under the hood... also... here is a link, look at the pics and compare them to yours..... towards the bottom of the page there are pictures with the name of the tranny http://www.marlincrawler.com/trans.html

my bet would be that you have a W55 jim, i think that was the most common 5 speed in 2wds and celicas after the early 80s(the W50 was more common in the 70s and early 80s).

and for '89-95 trucks with manual trannies(i'm sure there's some factory oddballs out there), if you have manual hubs and a 4 cylinder, you have a W56, ADD with a 4 cylinder you have the G58, and if you have the V6 you have an R150F
