What is this switch in my fuse box?

I found this when I opened the fuse box. I don't know what either the black box or the switch with in the bottom right corner is. The joy of used vehicles. At least it runs really well. Thanks in advance.

I had a 98 Taco that had an alarm with a toggle switch. I never had the key fab to activate the alarm and never really understood what the toggle switch would be used for. Is there a siren under the hood? If so, try and follow the wires from the siren to the black box.

Could be a cheap remote start too - they often come with a switch to enable/disable the start feature, but shops hardly ever actually install it. It's a 'safety' thing...

I'll go with D) All The Above. Regardless what it is thought, it seems to be quite pointless...

It def looks like an alarm brain box, if you can get a model # off the box you can get a fob for it. I was in a similar situation and turned out the PO had a DEI remote start alarm installed but lost the fob so they disabled it before they traded it in to the stealership. I got a new antenna and fob and now I use it daily....love the remote start in this TX heat!

Older model Prestige or Audiovox alarm w/ toggle switch valet. These days, all valet buttons are push buttons.

So it definitely is a car alarm. The brand is KARR. I can get the fcc id but I cant find the model number. I'm assuming that the switch is for the valet mode. I had the battery disconnected while I was doing some other work and now whenever I hook up the battery the alarm goes off. I don't have the fob and putting the key in the ignition/door doesn't turn it off. If there is a write up on how to take them out I would be happy to go that route. Right now I would just be happy to get the alarm off and my truck started.

if you have the FCC id just buy a fob for it here:
http://www.remotesandkeys.com/search...s.asp?cat=4256

no sense in un-installing it if it obviously works, just pull the fuse till you get the fob (unless that trips the kill switch)

it will only trip it if it has battery backup which the control module doesnt look like its big enough to house it
