Angry What is behind the driver's side wall in the cargo area?

After just finding out that under the passenger seat there's some air conditioning component, the idea of amp and sub under the seats can be scratched.

I absolutely can not have anything sitting in the cargo area. The amp will probably go under the driver seat, but where does the speaker go? Giving up the storage compartment isn't that fun of idea, plus it would not be too stealth if kept open.

What I was thinking is putting a 6.5" - 8" inside the rear wall? Color match the grille and it should be invisible.

The gas tank filler neck is behind the cargo wall on the driver side. I don't know how much room would be back there though.

4RURN,

They are held down by snap rivets but you'll have to unscrew some trim pieces to do that:

I have my cd changer there. Had to cut an opening large enough for it though.

While measuring the place in the wall - it hit me! WHAT ABOUT THE REAR SWING UP DOOR!

It looks like it could easily hold a pair of 8" subs! And talk about unobtrusive and stealth! Would be a Houdini act to feed the wires through stock locations, but otherwise look like the perfect solution.

Bob that's an awesome page! Ever try removing the 5th door panel?

Hmm! Yah that would suck. But it does look like the glass will clear a pair of 6.5" surface mounted subs! If only I could take it off and be sure.

The deed is done! Pair 6.5" subs with an uber infinite baffle setup. The bass output and quality can be equited to a pretty good stock premium system in a luxo sedan. Doesn't go too low, but adds so much as it's coupled directly to the body. (~45hz) Surprisingly the plastic panel that goes over them did not change the sound one bit.
