Waag Warning

Anyone looking to install a Waag grill guard, please heed this warning. Due to a terrible design, the screw that holds the smaller bars that cover the lights, sticks out on the inside of the bar where it wraps around the front of the fender. When driving, the bar shakes so much that the screw hits the fender. Now they do provide a plastic cap for the screw but that dosen't do much to prevent it from scratching the fender. I ended up covering the cap with some felt that is used for the legs of funiture to prevent them from scratching the floor.

I'm just thankful that my Manik bar is being delivered today and I can take this thing off. The only reason I got the Waag to begin with was becasue of an accident I had and the body shop couldn't find a Manik. They gave me the Waag whcih I told my insurance company was not correct and they agreed to pay for the Manik.

Mine is an 01.

I was suprised when I heard the banging. It shimmy's way too much for my liking. i am not putting it past the body shop that they assembled it wrong. They weren't the brightest bunch of guys.

A samller screw might be possible, but dosen't matter because the Manik is being delivered today and will be put on this coming weekend.

I have a WAAG for my Tacoma (02) and I never experienced any wobbling of any sort.
Accidents on the other hand...

I have WAAG Guards on 4 different trucks, and I dont have that problem. In fact, my 4Runner has the cap about 1/8" away from the fender..

I have a WAAG on my 95. It's pretty solid. Maybe you didn't tighten it down all the way?

I don't know if I'd do that.
Since I've put it on I've had to remove mine about 4-5 times for various reasons. I can't imagine having to deal with loctite when I'm already worried about how awkward the entire thing is...

WD-40 makes a difference with loc-tite?

EDIT:
and if you do use loc-tite don't you risk breaking off the nut in the frame too?
