Andreas,

I appreciate your concern, but all I'm looking for, in discussions with a techie at a dealership, is information regarding a feature that is available on some 4Runners and not others -- A TRAC off switch. I don't anticipate receiving much guidance from them and asking a few questions certainly won't hurt. In all honestly, I highly doubt they would even understand the ANDYMOD™ let alone realize that TRAC is not disabled when VSC is.

Chris,
Maybe I misunderstood you. If so, my apologies. If your '03 does not have a TRAC OFF switch, someone posted earlier in the thread that his does and that you should be able to retrofit the switch. Check back a few pages in the thread.

Andreas:

No offence taken. From what I've read on this topic, the 4x2 4th gen may have a TRAC off switch. Or maybe the Limited version due to some other reason such as the air lift in the rear. It wasn't an 'option' on the sport ed. in the sense that it be listed on a check sheet. I'll find out more shortly.

Well I got my switch mounted for the trac/VSC off. I didn't get the toyota factory switch so it doesn't look at professional, but a $3 rocker switch from Radio Shack works just fine. The whole process took ahout a half an hour.

I believe it was www.toyota-parts.com. Shoot them an email directly. I think the guy's name was Greg. I posted the info somewhere deep in this thread.

And your lights, too. And yours actually illuminate the road in front of you...

Well, I was in the same spot again today, with the same clients, and in the same wet nasty weather. I speak of the muddy hill that prompted me to start this thread in November. This time I had both husband and wife with me. I flipped my switch, powered through a very slick and slimy section of mud and made it to the piece of property that I was showing. Then on the way out, I had to power through a 90 degree turn with the pedal to the metal. The truck performed perfectly. Mud flew into the next county and the REVOs dug through that crap like no tomorrow.
They were both impressed. Without the AndyMod™, I would still be there. Having a client help to extract your truck from the mud would not be a good thing

I'm happy. That was worth the months of theorizing.

It was refreshing to hear mud being flung all over the place, rather than the chatter of the ABS and the beeping of VSC.
