Simon,
I did not try the Center Diff Lock while in the "AndyMod" mode. Will try that later today. If I remember correctly, I plugged the connector back in while the truck was running, and the lights went out.

Ducky,
I'm sure there are people on this board with 2WD versions that would be honored to help in our quest. We should post a separate thread asking for volunteers. My desire all along has been to utilize the factory switch. We are still at a standstill though - until we figure out what the three wires in that plug go to.

Let's keep this momentum going!

i've uploaded scans from the diagnostic section for the master cyl pressure curcuit (p1,p2/p3) to:

http://community.webshots.com/album/254318478jhyxPZ

it appears "E2" is a ground as different voltages are measured off it and "VCM" and "PMC".

hope this helps,

mike

Mike,
Thank you for the scans. Of the three wires feeding the plug at the pressure sensor connector, which one do you think would cause the VSC, TRAC, and ABS to shut off? The thought of course is to utilize a switch to interrupt one of more of the wires.

These are the pics sent by Hawaiian4R (THANKS!!!)

Now we just need to "trac" (haha joke) where these wires disappear to...

Sweet. I think we should call that the "Freedom Switch".

...Anyways I guess with the diagrams we got from mikNtx we should "assume" thats where they go... now just to buy the switch and some wire lol....

Mike if you unplugged that wire connector (V18 I think) with the pin 26 we need, is there anything like a wire sticking out waiting for something to plug into it? or is it just a hole where the wire would go...? am I making sense? lol...

Simon,
I just braved the cold and ran the truck through all of the settings. With the pressure sensor connector pulled, I was able to get in and out of 4WD just fine, and was also able to lock the center diff as usual.

I think we are getting some more snow on Sunday. Donuts for everyone!

pin 26 on connector 18 was empty and i made a switch linking it to ground (similar to what EMPLUSTEN on PAGE 5 tried duplicating the 2wd TRAC wiring a few pages earlier in this thread). nothing happened as it was thought that the VSC ECU has other inputs into it making it act as a 4wd VSC configuration. there are several more feeds to the VSC ECU from the 4wd ECU and transfer case position switches (not sure i answered what you were asking)

anyway, as an interrupt for the master cyl pressure sensor, i would lean towards what appears as a ground "E2" or the signal + "PMC". "VCM" is a constant voltage (4.7-5.3V) with IGN ON. any seem viable as the manual says that the VSC is going into a "fail safe" mode. i just do not know.

the more i look at this whole thing, i want to interrupt the signal (V19 pin 2)to the ECM to poo poo the dethrottling feature only retaining the TRAC and ABS. not sure yet if that would get what i think i want (VSC OFF only)

cut at your own risk!

edited to add who tried the 2wd TRAC wiring switch.

I was just thinking, one way to find out what the wires do is to get some allegator clips and just connect 2 of the wire at a time and see what we can find out.

A personal preference would be to have the switch (I'm very optimistic about this) reset to factory settings, meaning enable TRAC/VSC sensors, when the ignition is turned off. This way, when I return from an off-road trip my wife gets the safety she needs when she climbs in to drive. This might also be beneficial in the event of an accident as your insurance might not available if the switch is always set to the OFF position. Just a thought is all.

You mean like the "Overdrive" switch on the gear shift? If you leave this engaged when you turn the engine off, it will revert back to the normal mode. I agree.

Simon,
Do you mean connecting two of the three wires at the pressure sensor connector? I wonder if we can get the benefit of VSC OFF and TRAC OFF by maybe just interrupting one of the wires with an on/off switch. I think we can agree now that the red wire is a ground. Not that it helps me any

yeah, just connecting the wires individually so we can see what effect they have, or see what lights light up on the dash

You betcha'. Either that or the aowRSMod. I don't have this problem on mine so I am not sure who the original credit should go to. I can sure understamd the need to go out and smoke a little tread off your tires now and then, though!!!

Looking at the factory TRAC OFF switch photos, one could assume that it may indeed have some sort of reset function built in. It's certainly not just a simple on/off rocker.

I agree, my parent's 01 camry has this switch. When I turn Trac OFF then shut off the engine and back on, it automatically turns back on. I think the switch works as an interupter or a circuit breaker of some sort

For 60-70$ that switch better do something other than be a normal on/off toggle. =)

BTW Ray.. I see your sig... why do you hate the center locker? I hate VSC; sometimes ABS (mostly not) but the Center locker is awesome...
