VSC Questions

I have an 04 Double Cab Pre Runner, yes its mostly a mall crawler, dont judge me, lol.
I was looking at wheelers off road wheels for my truck. They claim "OUR 15" WHEELS ARE DESIGNED SO THEY WILL FIT ON A 95-04 16" FACTORY EQUIPPED TACOMA! NOW YOU CAN RUN 15" TIRES ON YOUR 16" EQUIPPED TACOMA. WE'VE HEARD OF A RARE FACTORY OPTION IN 2004 CALLED "VSC"- IF YOUR 2004 TACOMA HAS THIS OPTION YOU NEED TO STAY WITH 16" WHEELS OR BIGGER."

How Can I tell if my truck is equipped with VSC? What is VSC?? I have read about it on here, but dont currently remember, please help me out here guys. Thanks!!

As far as I know there are no Tacomas with VSC. My year Runner 01 was the first for Runners and the new ones still have it and the FJ's have it also.

Never heard of it on a Taco.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if your brake master cylinder looks like it could be a component for the NASA space shuttle and your truck beeps at you if you make an abrupt maneuver on the road, you have VSC. The conditions to cause a beep kinda make it a "hey dummy what are you doing with me" beep, right Eric?

VSC = Vehicle Stability Control

Like Eric, I've never heard of VSC being on a Tacoma before.

Yeah VSC is like that. It has kept me out of trouble a couple of times. I am one of the rare people who like VSC and TRAC. My rig is proof that is works very well off road also.

It doesn't really matter though. Unless Wheelers has came up with a very unique rim design which they may have, 15" rims will not work on your rig.

The best thing to do is call over there. I have dealt with them many times and they are a great bunch and can answer all your questions about this much better than any of us can about one of their products..

Call them

Thanks guys!! Yeah, I talkedf to them, but I didnt ask much about the VSC, I just found out they have 15" rims for the 16" equipped tacoma and pre runners. The fact that they specifically said the prerunner is what gets me, cause I have heard that we have bigger brakes anyway, I know a guy with a 2000 taco and he is running wheelers rims. I just didnt know if my truck had VSC or not.... Heres the link to the rims...

Thanks again guys.

Just curious, but is there any reason you want to go down to 15" wheels? Is it just the style you want? Other companies make wheels that look identical in 16". I just don't get it.

I'm wanitng to run BFG MT's. And I want them in a flotation tire (33X12.50) and they have these tires in a 15, and a 16.5, but in 16's they only have LT tires, and I know that a 305/70 is like 32.8 X 12, but I want the flotation 33's. Thats why I want to run the 15's.

VSC Questions

I have a 2004 reg cab 4WD Tacoma. It came with 16 inch wheels. I bought some 15 inch American Racing wheels and BFG 32x11.50 15 AT and they fit just fine. I have a 2.5 inch ToyTec lift in the front. I doubt that you have VSC. 15 inch rims should fit. To answer some people 15 inch tires are cheaper and they provide more flex.

15" tires usually run a little cheaper too.
I'm going to be switching from 16s to 15s after my BFG ATs give out... maybe 60K from now?
