Vehicle pricing: kbb, nada, etc?
I'm in the market for a 01-04 double cab Tacoma. I've found one I'm very interested in, but unsure if the price is reasonable. The seller (individual) is asking 11,500. NADA says 12k, KBB says 10500. The truck is in good condition, 2002 double cab, 4x4, TRD package, 88000 miles. Not sure about any accessories, can't tell from the pics. Which do you guys think is a more accurate price? I was hoping to spend around 10k, so the kbb price is perfect, but don't wanna lowball the person either. Which pricing site do you all feel is most accurate? Thanks for any input.

Well I have not really looked at the taco prices latly but i know the 4runner prices have dropped a LOT in the last 2 years.
It depends on the exact options, where you live and condition but 10k sounds reasonable to me and a quick seach on the net backs that up.
If it has lots of options or you live where they are worth more then a little more might be in order.

Most 2wd double cab Tacomas are running ~11k (that's with most options such as TRD package and power doors, windows, etc). I'd like a 4wd, but all are around $13k when KBB values them at 11k ish. I've searched every place I can think of online and within 300 miles of me and no luck finding a low mileage (under 100k) Tacoma 4wd for under 12k). Finally found this one, so I really want to jump on it, but I just can't see paying that much over KBB values (always thought you could get them below that price).

And why worry about finding one under 100k miles? I bought mine with 125k and it runs like a champ and took a supercha4rger like one too.
100k miles is just breaking it in, 200k is a fair amount of miles and 300k is high milage.
I would not hesitate 1 second to get a toyota that has been taken care of with less then 200k on it. When I was shopping for mine, milage was not even a consideration, i was much more worried with the PO and how well it was taken care of.

I don't have the ones over 100k crossed completely off the list, I'd just prefer that. I've seen 4wd's like what I'm looking at bring 12-13k even with 150-200k miles, so this one that has 88k sounds really good. I'm gonna have to see if I can get the cash, then just make an offer and go from there. I just hate it when some idiot offers you way less on a vehicle than what it's worth, and I don't wanna be one of those people. If I find out it's worth the asking price, no problem I'll pay it. However, if it's actually only worth 10,300 like KBB says, I'd rather pay that. Thanks a lot!

You can check out edmunds.com for pricing too. Average all 3 values and you've got a good ballpark number. Consider all the possible values too...excellent condition, good, fair (whatever 2 conditions the truck could fall between). Look at the truck for reasons to not offer the asking price....worn tires, cheap tires, dents, carpet stains, stuff like that. Never hurts to offer at least a little lower than asking price, maybe $10,900 - $11,100. If you think it's a good deal when looking at other similar trucks in the area then maybe $11,500 is worth it. Good Luck!

Why are you checking prices? And what does "worth" mean?
There are so many Toyotas out there for sale at any time, you can easily gauge what sellers expect to get. It's not like you are buying a 1951 Alfa Romeo, of which there are 2 in the whole of US, and you don't really know if it's worth $2000, or $200,000.
