Is that on an engine hoist, or did they set that thing down on the oil pan?

Even if you had to replace the pan, if you could get it for less than $2k, then you'd get a steal since it's blown.

That's true, but it does say something about a business when they plop an engine on the concrete. That was my only point. The oil pan would be a cinch to change out once on a cherry picker, I agree.

unless they dropped it, i really doubt the pan is damaged, they are stronger than you think

C'mon you guys, I know how strong they are. I have used a jack and a flat board to support the engine before (on Honda's while doing the clutch, and motor mounts).

I am looking at the big "picture" if you will. As a seller, I would have cleaned up the engine a bit and took a picture while it was on the hoist, not set on its side on concrete via its oil pan and took the picture.

That's all I am trying to say.

i think he's right.

if im going to invest in something like an engine, id at least like to see it cleaned up and carefully handled by the seller.

its just allowing your buyers to be more confident in the product.

i work for lkq down here in florida. they do a very large volumn of buisness, and its nearly impossible to make everything perfect. however, all of their parts are inspected, cleaned and tested prior to sale. our branch had a n/a 3.4 listed on ebay the other day, not sure if its still there.
