Well my 93 4x4 is lower on the right side. It is very noticable too when you look from the back of it. I don't think my torsions have ever been touched, so could the leafs in the rear be sagging on that side? It would seem like the leafs would be the problem, but not sure. Anyone else have this problem before?

 

How much gas do you in the truck? I remember reading that the trucks sag to one side because the springs are set up to compensate for a full tank of gas, so when there isn't much gas in there, it will raise on one side.

 

My tank is full. That is the side that it is leaning on and there is a very noticable difference. So the springs should be stiffer on that side.

 

Do you have any broken leaves in your spring pack?

Have you carried heavy loads or otherwise stressed out your springs?

I don't believe the springs are stiffer to compensate for a full tank of gas. Although the fuel tank is toward the passenger side on your truck, it's still between the frame rails and shouldn't have that much of an effect. A gallon of gas weighs between 5.8 and 6.5 pounds. Even 20 gallons (more than your tank holds) would only weigh about 120 pounds or so, which would probably be less than most drivers. A driver is in the truck all the time, and a full tank of gas...less often. If there is any spring bias, it may be on the driver side.

How much of a difference?
Maybe you should measure off the ground to the same point on either side - say the top of the wheel well?

With a more concrete number maybe people will be able to tell you more specifically what the problem might be.

 

Well I mesured from the top of the rim to the bottom of the fender in the rear. The right side is about an inch lower than the left. The front measurements are pretty close. So that would probably mean my leafs are sagging on the right.

FWIW, my 95 4runner sits an inch lower on the right w/ a full tank of gas (wheel to fender, HD Downey coils). It levels off when I'm below half a tank. Since I usually run it more than half full, I've been debating getting a 3/4" to 1" coil spacer for the right side. However, the left to right rake hasn't been severe enough to warrant the extra work and money yet. However, if it really bugs you, you might be able to stick an add a leaf or some spring supports on just the right side to level it off. My $0.02.

 

I just checked mine out and I too sit lower on the passenger side - by like an inch and a half!

This is with a 3/4 tank too!

Huh, I never really noticed any other trucks low on the passenger side like mine. I wonder if there all like that. Can you notice the lower side on yours by looking at it?

 

I can notice but I always figured it was because of uneven pavement (I park reverse on my driveway and our house is on a street that goes downward)

They were talking about a drivers side lean. So if the guy put an extra gas tank on the right of the other tank it would cure it. I think thats what there saying.

 

Oh ˟˟˟˟˟ guys.... I just went out to look at my truck and noticed it was lopsided too! Don't fret though, I called TOYOTA and talked to them about the problem. They said because it's the month of september/ october that the earth is on a wierd axis! And due to the pitulation (uh) that it's normal for the truck/ runner to lean a little one way or the other. However they (TOYOTA) said it would all be cool in febuary or so.... They (TOYOTA ENGINEERS) did say putting a lard a$$ in either the driver seat or the passenger seat may help some, oh and check the radiator fluid also.

Sorry, I couldnt resist that. The rear springs are more than likely the same from drivers to passengers side. The thought being that when you sit in the drivers seat, it will level out. The driver is closer to the front than the gas tank, so it may even itself out.

 

Yeah, get a fat chick to sit in the driver's seat... I think TOYOTA said something along those lines.
