Tricks for changing 22re fuel filter
Like the title says...I was going to change the fuel filter on my 22re and then went and took a peek under the hood. Needless to say I was less than enthused with what I saw. Does anyone know of any good tricks to get that out of there? Thanks

Jack the truck up.
Remove the Passenger Side Tire.
Remove The inner fender piece. (I belive it 2 bolts..its kinda like an access panel)
I found thats the easiestt way to get to it.
Other than that a 3" Body Lift makes it even easier

Now how exactly do you remove/install a FUEL filter by grabbing it and unscrewing/screwing it by hand? Must be a new filter design on a 22re...damn aftermarket.
In terms of the fuel filter, dont take the tire off. Just remove the access panel. then use a 17mm Box wrench to take the banjo bolts out, then use a 12mm socket to remove the filter from the bracket. Installation is reversal of that. Make sure you use new Brass washers for the banjo bolts, or it will leak. Trust me, i ran into that problem.

I just pulled off the whole intake. It make it 100% easier than others Ive done. You can also clean the whole intake, injectors, etc. I second using new brass washers, cheap insurance.

I guess the easiest way would be take the engine out!
I dont see how you can get to it from the top, its directly under the intake right above the starter!!
I remember the last time I did it was what 4hummer said. I know some guys like to use the crows foot... I thought the new filter came with the washers too?

Damn Cabbage you beat me to it. I just had the head off and the fuel filter was a piece of cake to change. Just reached in and wrenched it off and put a new one on 5 mins tops. Now if someone can tell me where all of these bolts go I'll be back up and running, with clean gas I might add.
Like what has already been said, take the tire and the access cover off and reach in that way. You can also turn the tire all the way to one side or the other but taking it off is way better.
