I've had my TRD second gen(black) SC installed on my Tacoma for quite a while now, and it's fine. When I installed it, the vacuum and air hoses that used to go through that funny metal piece that sat on top of the intake were all too short and I cobbled things together and made it work. Now, with some age my rigging job started showing it's age and I started getting vacuum leaks. I fixed all of them, but one of them still bugs me. It's the hose that goes from the intake air tube just before the throttle body to the crankcase near the firewall. It's molded on both ends and is a fairly large diameter, especially on the intake tube side. I fixed it, it's not causing any CEL at the moment...but it looks like garbage.
I bought my SC second hand, so I don't know if any hoses came with the kit. What are some more factory looking solutions to this? The part 12261-62050 is the hose that is molded for the intake air tube side but it's too short to make it all the way to the crank case. It's designed to make it to the metal tube piece that gets removed when the SC is installed. The hose I mean is in the attached picture and is #7. I can't find any pictures of the other side of the hose.
That should be the tube for your PCV valve. I think it’s 3/4”, but don’t go shopping without measuring it. You should be able to get bulk tube from any auto parts store by the foot. Measure it up to make a graceful arc from end to end and then get some at pep boys.
It is part of the PCV system but it doesn't go to the PCV itself...it goes to the crankcase and provides the fresh air to the PCV system. Pretty sure it's different sizes on each end and it is molded to fit the plastic piece at the intake tube. That's why I was looking for suggestions from anyone who has done a SC...or maybe I'm making more of it than it is. That's a possibility!
Here's a couple of pics....the part labeled 7 in the diagram is joined to an unknown hose that goes to the back of the valve cover...The T is all I had on hand and isn't ideal but it's air tight for now. I'd rather have something that's 1 piece, but as I mentioned each end is a different size.
