TRD admits V6 S/C problems?
Hey all,
I was over in the Sequoia section and saw this thread.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...859#post114859
If you go down to the 6th post or so, it looks like the guy contacted TRD who said "none of the V6 problems carry over to the V8"
I thought there wasn't any problems??? (sarcasm intended)

Issues with the V6 SC varry but the common ones are the nose gear leaking oil. TRD says it is normal but that doesn't mean it is ok. There are only 3.5 to 4 oz of oil in the nose gear, so it would stand to reason that you can't leak for very long without it running out. This has been a problem on both of the SCs in my experience, we have seen both come through the shop with the same issue.
Secondly, the ping issue. Even the 2nd gens have experienced this issue, especially if you are running the smaller pulley on it. After a while drivers have noticed a ping and even sometimes rattle with their SC. Commonly this is found on the first gen (the gray one) but also has been found on the 2nd gens as well.
Third and final is what Gadget discusses on his site is the fuel starvation in high boost. This is something I can personally attest to and is a problem that can be fixed a couple of ways. Notice this article on Gadget's site
http://www.gadgetonline.com/fuelpump.htm.
As for the same problems not carrying over to the V8, that is a yes and no answer. I know the fuel starvation is not so much an issue anymore due to the second injector added on the V8 SC. As for the other issues that remains to be seen since they are so new on the market.
Hope this helps.

From what I read between here and on TundraSolution, it seems with the V8 you can simple just bolt on the SC and drive it, the 3rd Gen 4Runners is not so simple as just to buy the SC.
