Why thank you, thank you very much (Elvis impersonation ) I married my factory Toyota brush guard with the T-17. They are very happy together

Ed the link works now, my God, you are missing the bolt-on wings. It came without them?

Yup. Called 4x4Connection. They were incredulous, but agreed to have TJM ship a new set to me. Should have them next week.

So I ask again. Does anyone make rear bumpers or am I going to have to fab up my own?

That's strange because the T-17 in the pictures of 4by4connection show that it has one "hoop" in the middle over the grill, but no hoops over the headlights. But the pictures here show that the t-17 has no hoops what so ever. So which is it?

mt goat, where did you get the factory brush guard and how much did it cost? I'd really love more about how you did the hybrid... it looks really nice!

That's the optional grill guard for the T-17.

The factory brush guard came on my truck new. I don't remember what the cost was, that was 1993. It was a lot of work joining them together, but I'm very happy with it and I got pretty good at TIG welding too.

You'll probably have to fab up your own unless you like tube bumpers all pro sells one for the second gen. The only TJM rear bumpers I know are only available for the FJ60 and FJ80 LC.

What do you guys think of ARB? This seems like a good deal.

I like the ARB's too. They are better in some ways, like their all one piece design. You don't have those stupid bolt-on wings with the gap filled with big rubber trim to deal with. The bumper and mounting bracket is all one piece so it's stronger and won't shift on you in an accident. The downside to that is you don't have any adjustment for the bumper height. I was able to modifiy my TJM fairly easyly for my 1 inch body lift and kept the gap the same. Here is my gap now with 1"BL http://community.webshots.com/photo/...57765725hxZrqO with the ARB there is no easy way to modify the height and that gap would be about 1.5 inches with my 1"BL.

I think I know what the bolt on wings are (they are on the side, right?), but what do you mean when you say "gap filled with big rubber trim"?

Right, the wings of the TJM bolt on to the sides of the main bumper. Between the main bumper and the wings there is a gap. That is where TJM has you put a piece of rubber trim to hide the gap. I'd show you a pic but I welded my wings on and I filled the gap in with welding rod and Bondo.

I found an old pic of my TJM before I welded the wings on http://community.webshots.com/photo/...61699267aknHVF See the rubber trim on the sides.

Here is what it looks like welded on (without the trim).http://community.webshots.com/photo/...87536658rVHJHT

That looks really good! I've seen yours before but I never really paid attention to it.

Ok, so ARB=stronger, some may argue better looking stock
TJM=easier to adjust height
Prices=about the same

I found a place where I can get a TJM T-13 for just under $700 and I mgiht go for that. I actually like the look of the 13 over the 15. Even though it looks like it sticks out a bit farther, I still think I'd rather have it over the 15. It's also 100 bucks cheaper!
