Tires sticking out

looked at my 2nd gen 4runner today and realized that the drivers side tires seem to stick out more than passenger side by a good 1/2". any ideas on what this might be? the truck still drives normal

Were all the tires bought at the same time by you? Perhaps you ended up with two 10.5s and two 11.5s or something crazy.

The only things I know of that would allow for extra space would be wider tires or wheel spacers. Anything beyond that is new to me.

Is this all stock truck or do you have body lift on it?
With the rear pan hard rod, if you have factory sag then the rear could do that.

My 92 4x4 p.u. is the same way. I didn't notice it with the stock tires, until I put on the 32's on 8" rims. Driver side sticks out at least an 3/4" more than passenger side. So I switched tires from one side to the other, same results. Guess it's normal. I have no lift also.

Body mounts can shift too if they aren't tight. It is possible if the body shifted over while you had it articulated.. Try articulating it the opposite direction and see what happens.
I would look at doing a small body-lift on it then you can get everything lined up with new hardware.
