Tire and wheels for 2003 4runner

I am looking at new wheels and tires for a 2003 4runner, looking for 18" rims and slightly wider tires(285's?), anyone out there with a similar setup or suggestions? And what size tire might fit(285/65/18's?) any help is appreciated.

First off I highly doubt that those tires will fit w/o a lift.

285/65/18 is:

32.6" Diameter
11.2" width
7.3" Height

Calls for one big tire.

Stock tires are usually 265.70.16 or 265.65.17 = 30.6" Diameter and 10.4"

So I'd stick w/ a tire around the same size.

Bridgestone Duelers have 285/50/18 which is 29.2" Diameter and 11.2" Width.
So that can fit.

I'd say lower profile tires and abit wider but not too wide.

As Good Times asked, what are you trying to acheive - appearance or performance? If performance, then offroad or onroad?

I want to get on/off road tires, no lift, but want to find some thicker tires as well. Heard the 265/70/17's look better on the 4runner, but was looking for something a little thicker, like 285's.

If you're looking for offroading tires but don't want to lift it then you're best bet is getting 265/75/16 or 265.70.17.

If you go up to 285's you'll definitely need some lift or you'll rub and tear your inner fenders apart.

I can't find any real good rims in 18 or 19, they usually are intended for 5 lug cars, I have been looking at 20 & 22, the 22 would be size 305/40-22, have not really found a tire size in 20 Im happy with

I did see a Lifted Expedition on 22's and the guy had huge tires to fill in for the lift but Im not gonna lift cause of the X-Reas well not at this point
