tinted tails

Drop black auto paint 8 teaspoons per one pint of clear.

I paint the outside...there is an automotive clear coat on. So far i have had them on my truck for about 15 months now. No fading, scratches or chips have occured. Here is a pic of the breaklights applied. click me

The pic shown above in my first post is the lights on with no break applied, about 25 ft back.

Here is my first set (medium tint)

Those look good, dude. Any trouble with the five-o's? Your truck looks sweet...I think you should paint your wheels, and the front 'T' emblem black too

That does look great, but I can only see two of the pics. So you just tinted clear with a black base?

Id like to see how to do this, I have aftermarkter tails and they are carbon fiber... hideous!!! Id like to them paritally tinted to hide that ricer look. Also where in washington do you wheel at?

it looks awesome, but it would never fly around here. Your tails have to be able to reflect red back. Do thos reflect at night ?

Looks sweet. I don't have the balls to do it myself. I've heard the cops hate thoes. No problems with my clears in the past 2 years.

DOT requirements specify that the tails have to reflect back red when an external light shines on them. If you follow Darrman's link to his Webshots pic, then back up to his Taillights gallery, you'll see a daylight shot that clearly illustrates his tinted lenses reflect red.

Hey Darrman, aren't you from CustomTacos? How many teaspoons of black per pint of clear for the medium tint?

Ok, cool. After the smoke, did you hit the whole thing with a coat of clear? Is there non smoked clear coat over the reverse light sections of your tails?

That's one of the best tint jobs I've seen and might do a few coats to my Runner's lights instead of upgrading to '01+ tails and it would be cheaper.
