If its raining, overcast, light snow, early morning, evening or I'm driving on a 2lane road, my headlights are on.

Those of you having a pissing contest over this subject, move it over to PM's. Couple of you need to RE-READ the forum rules as well, as a couple of you are tippy-toeing your way towards a ban.

Fighting over the internet........about as dumb as peeing in to the wind.

Disabling DRL's only sounds useful if you have expensive headlight bulbs (ex. HID's)...

I dont know what the big hissy is about. I dont think the guy is randomly driving down roads at night/dusk/low light conditions (whatever) with his lights off...although it would be a good idea to have the corner lights on or something so people can see your vehicle easier, yada yada.

No reason to get angry!

DRLs makes driving safer. Other motorists see you better. I don't see why it bothers anyone so much. When you are driving, you don't see your own lights. WTF?

This is a funny post! I would like the option to turn off my DLRs on my 4th Gen (an 09 limited 4R). 1st because I'm a wildlife photographer and I like to slip as far into places with my truck without announcing "I'm here" before I head out on foot - second because I work with the military and there are bases & places where lights are not allowed - so NO ENTRY with DLRs., third because its a free country - at least down here! So my question is - has anyone done the DLR mod on a 4th gen (07-09)? BTW - there is a toyota tech notice on how this can be done @ the dealership on 3rd gens - maybe up to an 05.

Same with the seat-belt buzzer. I just got my Haynes Repair Manual - so I'll try to find it there without dropping the 150 bucks for the factory electrical manuals.

My mom just got an '08 Civic about 2 months ago. Since my car doesn't run I've been getting to drive it. It would be nice if the DRL's had an option to have them on or off.

It would be nice to be able to turn them off say when pulling into someones driveway. I try to be courteous and not shine lights into peoples bedrooms late at night.

In a drive-thru late at night? It sucks having a trucks lights shining right into your mirrors. Same with sonic sitting across from someone.

We still have a Drive-In theater here in Kansas, sometimes its too bloody hot to be sitting outside watching a movie so I would like to have my car on with the a/c running; sucks since I can't do that with DRL's since they would blind everyone else.

Also, last year on black friday my buddy and me were camping out in front of Best Buy in a tent. Some lady had her truck running to keep the heater on and her DRL's were shining directly into our tent; very irritating.

Not all situations about DRL's being on or off have to deal with driving.

It should be a black wire with yellow stripe. Pin locations depends on your year 4Runner:

2000 Model - Pin 2
2001- 2002 Model - Pin 12

If you are pulling into or out of a campsite, alot of people prefer to be able to turn their lights completely off to avoid blasting tents and such with bright lights. That's just one reason people might not like them. Even DRL's are enough to wake people up.

Seriously, this thread did not need the flaming in the second post. Any valid point made was lost due to the condescension. Respectful disagreement would have sufficed.
