Thoughts on shotening "legs" on sliders

I am about to order a set of Stubbs deluxe sliders (preganat wife can't get inot my 4r and has requested sliders )

I was talking to Richard about shortening the legs on the sliders to get them to sit a bit more flush to the body. I realize I am going to loose a little protection, but I want some opinions of those who run sliders now.

Thanks
Eric

doesn't he make a slider w/o the additonal outer bar? it sits directly under the rocker pinch weld. can't use it for much of a step though.

if you trim them and tuck them under, then you'll still get the benefit of rocker protection, but you'll lose the side protection. i've drug mine a ton at tellico. that reminds me, they need another coat of rustoleum from the last trip. i scarred the bottoms up pretty bad...

you know what though .. i wouldn't recommend using them as steps, esp if I had a pregnant wife. They can get very slippery, and if you put the abrassive material on them, it'll scraped up the back of your legs.

If your just looking for a step, I'd look into on of those mini side step things that you can just bolt onto the frame under the passenger side door.

if you're gonna use em as a step use the rubberized non skid stuff not the sandpaper type stuff...I think Roger Brown has what kind listed on his site

Maybe have some small brackets welded on that could accept a removable step. Pull the step when wheelin, put it back when driving the wife around! The step should be non slip. Angry + pregnant= not fun.

My wife isn't dainty and just needs something for a boost with help from the oh s--t handle. So she actually suggested it was time to get the sliders.

I will go with Bob's suggestion and order from Mcmaster-Carr.

I have ordered the standard length Deluxe slider. If I need/want to shorten I can do it myself. I am most likely going to have them welded as is
