For those of you with weak hatch struts

I got mine off RockAuto for $34 shipped for both. They are made by Monroe. Since I have owned my 4Runner, the hatch had to be lifted but it would hold it self in place. Lately when a cold front came in it would creep down.

After installing the new struts I know it's a matter of time before the hatch nails me in the chin. If you give it a little tug, these things rocket the hatch up and the slow it down right before it is fully opened. I highly reccomend them espcially at this price.

Nice, I need to get some soon too. Could you post a direct link to those? I can't find them on the RockAuto site.

Sweet. I have been annoyed with the lift struts since day one.
One question though... Does it become harder to pull the gate closed?
There have been several times with both hands full of stuff (ok, fine... grocery bags, shaddap ) that I could close the gate with one finger in the loop and a good pull.
I suppose we could use one of each it that is the case?
