Thinkin about sellin the rig

I say, if you own the vehicle and you don't have a loan on it, park the sucker. Fix it up for wheeling and get you a little car for good gas mileage. I would hate to see you sell your rig, especially if it is paid for. Just park it, drive it on the weekends or to go wheelin, and don't worry about it being parted out.

Just my thinkin'.

If your dad's major thing about your going to college is the inability to haul your own stuff, that's BS. I've hauled so much crap in the back of my 'Runner it's not even funny. 2 sets of race wheels, tank of nitrogen, a tool box, two jacks, 2 coolers and still had a little extra room. When I moved away, I took a desk(disassembled), a desktop computer, a big TV, tons of movies, games, and books, all my clothes(which really is a bunch), my tool box, two rugs and some other stuff along with all that. The 4Runner has plenty of room for college, you're not exactly moving a big screen every year. Also, just regear it, sell me your tires and wheels and buy some tall AT's that are well praised. Just don't give up, yours is so far along with all the mods done. But should you decide to part with it, part it out to get the most ammount of money. And sell me your tires

It's not so much my Dad, his only idea was if he sold his truck for me to get one. But thats pretty much a mute point now.

The thing is, depending on how much money I put into this rig it will have to last me another 4-5 years maybe even longer...I'm just not sure that even if I put a new engine in it that it will last that long. The tranny may go, suspension stuff may go.

The most comforting thing is with going with a new one I KNOW that it will last me 4-5, or even 6-7 years...its going to depend on how the finances play out.

Anybody have a figure for me about how much it costs to put a 3.4 in a 2nd gen. Flygtenstein? I know you put one in your '95...if you dont mind me asking, what did it cost you?

Thanks for all the ideas and advice, it really helps a lot!

Fink

Fink. PM or drop an e-mail to TeamShiftPoint here on the board. He's done a few of them with an SC.

He should be able to point you in a good general direction on the 3.4L swap.
