And they're off...

The factory sliders that is. It was a nice day on Sunday, so I figured I might as well do something to my vehicle. This seemed as good as anything. I think I like it better this way. Check it out. The left is before. I cannot get big pictures to show up here. I had to resize these to the point of being bad quality. I need to learn how to post bigger pictures. Links to the 5mp pics below.

Maybe factory "benders" would be more appropriate.

Looks good, Chuck! What kind of tires are you running?

The Ltd running boards. It was a joke.

tires are firestone 265/75 A/Ts. Not the ones that blow up on Ford Exploders. I don't think. They are hard as rocks, but even after 3 years I can't see that even worn. Which is fine for me now, the last thing I need to buy is tires.

thats what I was thinkin.

did you atleast put them through the rituallistic trail beating by rubbing them on every rock and tearing them up? I wish I had thought of doing that before I took mine off.

I wish I had some pics of my running boards before I took em off. The end pieces were missing and the rest was rather bent. There were a couple times were I had to get out and jump on one end to bend it back down level with the rest of the board from a rock forcing it up.

I kept them in pristine ebay-able condition. I figure if someone will buy them I may as well keep them sellable.

Sweet! Much, much better. I just bought a 99 SR5 that did not have them on there. It is almost impossible to find trucks in my area that DON'T have them on there. I'm glad I was able to get a truck without them so I didn't have to worry with taking them off because I can assure you that would have been the first "mod" I would have done!

I think the only way I will put them back on is if I can come up with a way to put some down-shining lights under them that come on with the done light when I unlock the doors. As soon as it's warm I'll give it some thought. Maybe I can do it without the boards. Now I just need to clean and paint the visible underbody parts of the truck.
The first mod I would recommend is the footwell lights. Probably the best thing I have done.

there are now. Forgive the blurriness. all pics resized to 1mp for speed. These pics make it look like @$$, but it really is nice. Like what most cars have factory. The lights under the front seat look cool from the back seat. Very movie theaterish. I stole this from JasonB. The lights I used have individual switches, so if you didn't want them to come on with the dome anymore you can turn them off. the dome by itself is worthless if you drop something at night in my opinion. But, maybe i just need to clean my car out
