Question are there any other message boards like yotatech?

just like it says above.

oh one more thing, i own a 1992 sr5 and i scatter the rear wind deflector (the dark greyish black plexiglass one that is oem). does anyone know where i can get a new one or even a used one? i've asked my local dealer thinking it was still available, but they discontinued making it, also i've already searched all my local scrap yards and no luck.

thanx

I tried 4x4 wire. Not too friendly. In fact a few maybe not most were completely rude. This forum is much more friendly and blows that forum.....

Try www.toyota-4runner.org

There doesn't seem to be a lot of members there yet, but it is a nice board and the people there seem to be very kind and helpful.

Here's some:

1) http://www.4x4wire.com/cgi-bin/ultim...ubb=forum&f=13
2) http://www.customtacos.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php
3) http://tellico.off-road.com/ubbthrea...ffroadtoytruck
4) http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/...p?forum=14&893
5) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forum...php?forumid=12
6) http://forums.delphiforums.com/tacomaterritory/messages

The one I spend 98% of my time on is yotatech, because it seems that they are the nicest and most knowledgable as a whole. I sometimes do searches on the other ones when yotatech may not know the answers I'm looking for, 9 times out of 10, they do. This board rocks!

I mostly post at these two...
http://www.4x4wire.com/cgi-bin/ultim...1;DaysPrune=30

http://bbs.off-road.com/ubbthreads/p...ffroadtoytruck

Yota tech is my third board, but because I have an 89 it's less for mechanical stuff and more body/interior mods since you young whippersnappers don't have those kinda problems like us old farts. I didn't find 4x4wire to be rude, occasionally bawdy and uncultured...

Post here if you want to see rude...

They'll tear ya a new one...

If you think telling you to search is rude, then you just have your panties in a bunch.
Nobody in this thread said they were told to search. If they don't know yet they'll find out they should. Relax dude.

guys, I think we all (except for the ones mentioned above) just got called a bunch of dumbasses! that ain't no way to come on to a board new and your first post is an insult to almost everyone on it. you ain't got nothin' nice or informative to say than keep your trap shut please. Sensitivity? with a post like yours it's no wonder people are a little edgy!

P.S. I know your stomping grounds well, I went to West Springfield High back in the mid eighties. great place, I miss Springfield and the Fairfax area.

Ok guys, keep it cool.

DieselUV, your statement of "all the knowledge from this forum was gathered FROM 4x4wire" is unfounded, the tech info comes from the users who gained it through one or more of the many forums, email lists, news lists, clubs, and personal experience. Just cause someone once posted about it on any other forum in the past doesn't mean that's where it originally came from. Please don't take this as an attack towards you, but the way you stated that seemed very controversial.

My appologies. I was not trying to stir anything up. I felt like 4x4wire was getting a bad rap. It seems as though half the people here are from that board. A lot of members from the other board were getting tired of answering the same questions over and over. I'm getting bored with the board since there's not much activity, that's probably because everyone has covered everything. Then new people post and get told to search. Or people post street geared questions and some people poke fun. Those are the only two things that I can think someone might find rude. The latter being more so than the first. Maybe we're all just cranky.

edit: Shane I didn't mean to say that. I just felt like the other board deserves some credit.

You're quite right, 4xwire deserves a lot of credit. I post under the same username on Tellico/Offroad and Yota tech too, and I feel they are all equally deserving of credit.

By the way, I'm glad to see that you are not being a pirate about the issue, what they fail to understand is that there is no point in posting if you can't communicate; doesn't matter what their topic is. Boards are informal and people are free to express themselves, but since they are also public people have to behave as though they are in the park, you can't have an argument without attracting resentment, and we are all at the same volume with text. Typed medium also makes it hard to be subtle, sarcastic, or facetious without giving someone the wrong impression, and it is easier to even be the person who gets offended.

As far as similar boards, I have my three main boards because of their similarities and their differences. I post here for the interior mods and gadgets, 4x4 wire and off road for my mechanical issues and refernece. They frequently overlap.

There is alot of new ground to be covered. There still are alot of things to be worked out.

Everyone pretty much has stock skid plates.
No one yet has a crawler box actually installed.
Only FEAR has taken the truly long travel plunge.
The gas tank is still new and uncharted territory.
Manual hubs and advanced axles.
Very few have actually re-geared.

I could go on and on. There is alot of new ground to cover and alot of it is being covered. At this point through e-mails off the board. So much goes on off the board that no-one is aware of.

If you are looking for a new topic you could always inquire about advanced tree avoidance skills.

I still cringe when I think of that sound of you hitting that tree.

Ahhhhh, skid plates.
After seeing how AZRain's new design held up with you guy's, I know I want one for the 2nd gen in the future.

It looks very cool to compared to the tin can one from Toyota.
