Tacoma Drive Shaft Center Support bearing.

Tried searching on yota tech and Via google... was not able to find the information i was looking for...

Was wondering if the center support bearing is pressed onto the drive shaft(s) themselves. I'm going to replace it soon and would like to know if its pressed on so i can just take the whole shaft with me to my shop and press it off and or repalce it in my drive way at home ^_^

Slightly new to tacomas as i have only had mine 7 months. I know on the older extended cab pickups the center support is held on by a flange and nut but these tacomas have a different setup.

I also have a question about the reason as to why the center support bearing is "dropped" some.... theres alot of washers dropping the shaft an inch or so and kinda "cocking" the bearing.

The truck does not appear to have lift at all and the ride height seems stock to me.... the rear does seem slightly high... but i assumed it was normal. there are no blocks or anything....

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated

The stack of washers does not look normal, but what do I know since mine is a 1st Gen Tacoma.

Are there any mods around the transfer case, front diff or rear axle?

I think you should take those washers out and put it back to where its supposed to be. My guess is they have no idea whats going on and were trying to straighten out the driveline and decrease the angles. All those washers will make that bearing very unstable and it will likely cause vibration...which might be what killed your bearing. (if thats why your changing it)

Yea thats was one of my plans was to remove washers and change the bearing.

And yes i'm changing it due to vibration on acceleration and the bearing itself has over an inch of play.

Still curious as to if the bearing is pressed on the shaft(s) or not

So i can knock it out real quick.
