A/T Oil Temp

So finally, after reading all the horror stories it happened to me.

Today I headed up north to do some soft wheeling and during the way, my A/T OIL TEMP light came on.

I drove like that for about 60 miles shifting fine all the way up until it turned off when I got to the cooler spots where snow was present.

I came back home in one piece, luckily and no signs of bad tranny.

I was just wondering how bad is it to drive for the amount that I drove despite having the A/T TEMP light on?

Of course now, a transmission cooler is on its way.

To tell you that I've been up there more than a dozens time, half of which have been during the summer when we have scorching temperatures here, and this had never happened to me before.

It chose to happen at 7AM when it was 40 degrees outside.

My mistake was that I was letting it shift in and out of O/D until I think it had enough.

I haven't flushed the transmission ever since I've bought the vehicle, I guess it's time along with a tranny cooler.

I need to find a write-up on how to install it.
