Swaybars chunking...!
Ever since I installed my OME lift, I have noticed a chunking/clunking coming from the FRONT end when going over speedbumps and driving off-road.
I noticed when bolting back my sway-bars after installing the lift and spacers, the sway bars have been sitting at an increased angle, and I think that they are compressing the bushings enough to make the chunking sound.
So, what do I do? Has anyone else had this problem? I bought new bushings when installing my spacers because they had gone to crap, but, it didn't help at all.
Is there anyway to re-position the swaybar, or something so its not at the increased angle? I haven't heard anyone speak of this problem, so I really dont know what to do.

Remove them completely. I haven't had my swaybars on for over 1 year now. No real noticable differance...... Well I get a little more body sway from the on or off ramps for the highway, thats about it.
Offroad improvement is much better, I get way better articulation (sp?)

Funny, just last night I was underneath my 4Runner looking for the source of that same clunking noise. I grabbed the sway bar and tried to shake it, and I noticed that one of the bolts on the DS bracket was a bit loose. I tightened it down and it has made a big difference, but it has not gone away completely.

Check out Lars' quick disconnects in this thread even if you never take them off, the are longer and will reposition the front bar. If you get discos for the front, you can then put the front ones on the rear, as they are slightly longer than the rear ones and it will help to reposition the rear bar.
I woulnd not advise you to run with the front sway bar disconnected on a 3rd gen, you'll see/feel a lot more body roll than the earlier t-bar suspended models. Just my .02

Thanks for the replies guys.
So it looks as if the easiest way of solving this problem would be buying some sway bar disconnects.
I guess I'll buy some once I get a job

Well, I just checked out my swaybars again.
The right side is looking straight, w/o any angle with the swaybar.
The left side had an angle to it, and I could see how it could just dig right through the bushing and grind against metal.
I just loosened the top nut on the left swaybar, so the angle wasn't as great, and I took a ride. The sound had subsided quite a bit...so thats good!

I'd disconnect it completely for a test drive to make sure thats the actual problem, but reconnect it when you're done. I ran my 4runner for a couple weeks without, and it was pretty scary to say the least...
