Suspension SOS!!

Ok... So I have the Bilstein 5100 front adjustable shocks coupled with the OME 891 coils. After having them installed my wheels were literally pointed inward. Alignment guy says he can't do nothing for me. But im just seeing who else has this same setup??? Also there are three settings fir these front billies... The off road shop put them on the highest one. Would it reall make that much of a difference to drop that to the lowest???

So the toe adjustment is off? Or are you talking about the camber? Seem like changing the shocks would effect the camber more than the toe. Can't see why the alignment tech can't adjust it... Maybe he was just too lazy, I could see that happening.

As you lift the front, the camber and the toe changes. Easily adjusted, assuming nothing is frozen.

Alignment guy says he can't adjust it at all. But if I were to re-adjust those front struts down to their lowest setting, then would it be easily adjustable???

Some alignment techs just like to do the easy jobs, if its going to take some major adjustments they just send you away, or charge you for the simple adjustment and say they can't do the others. I've even had one tell me you can't adjust the caster at all on my truck, which is a lie.

I've had some really bad alignments and don't let anyone touch my alignment now. I do it myself in the garage with sting-line, jack stands, ruler and a carpenters square and do a better job than most techs will take the time to do. Google "DIY alignment" or "string alignment" for more on that. I still use the alignment techs occasionally for the free checks, but tell them not to do any adjustments without my approval.

I will preface this with the fact that I dont have this setup...that being said, I assume in your original post you meant to say you had the 881 coils installed up front instead of the 891s. Now, according to the toytec website it says when you use lift springs with the 5100 adjustables you should use the lowest setting. The alignment guy might be right. But I am not an expert, just 4runner brother from another mother!

Dougiefresh, you are right. Those front coils are the 881's... I already have my runner in the garage ready to take that front assembly off and take it in to be re adjusted to that lowest setting.

I run the adjustable Bilsteins but mine are for the Tundra and have 5 levels of adjustment. I also am using Tundra TRD coils with the billy's. My tires were toe in bad after I lifted but after a few hours at the alignment shop everything is fine. It think it would be better if you got OME struts but if that is not a choice then put the bilsteins on the lowest setting.

Yeah, I got school tonight and tomorrow but starting Wednesday I will be pulling those struts back off to be reset. I'll post pics and more once I get started.

Yeah that was the BIGGEST waste of money...but its already in. and it does not even make the whistle sound. CRAP!!!
