I posted a little while ago about not being able to get the two rear cam bolts out of my LCAs right, well I still cannot get them out. I have only, after 5 sawzall blades and almost 1.5 hours been able to cut off one side of one bolt, and that was the easy side. I cannot believe that they have seized that bad. I do not understand it. I have literally no rust under the truck and I had no issues at all removing anything else up until this point. I have soaked these two bolts in PB Blaster now for 6 days, hit it with a BFH, repeatedly hit it with a hammer attachment and a chisel attachment on my impact hammer, heated it up and beat on it, and even ground as much of the head of the bolt away as I could without messing up the LCA attachment point. What the hell is the problem? Anybody have any ideas? Did anybody else have this problem with installing their lift?

 

I had the same problem when I did my lift. I used a prybar and a B.F.H (2.5lb sledge). I also used a socket with a 4' cheater pipe to try and break the bolt cam washer lose from the LCA. it is probly rusted inside the bushing sleave. If you have a 1/4" extention you might be able to use it as a punch to hammer the cam-bolt out.

Lat rsort is to heat the bastid up with a MAPP gas torch and hope it breaks free/

 

how did you end up getting them out? also what exactly did you heat up?

 

I had to heat up the part where the washer meets the (frame?) lack of better termonology. spray the PB blaster into the LCA the best you can. let sit then heat the bolt almost red hot. smak the bish with a hammer it should break it lose. I wasn't too worried about damaging the rubber so much because I had ES bushings to install. Also I used one of the old camber bolts to punch the rusted bolts through. Don't do this if you plan to reuse them.

 

I just got one of the arms off. The bushings are shot since I had to basically melt them off. Where did you get the bushings again?

 

you can get them from a toyota dealer, had the same problem doing my lift. I pretty much went through a hole box of blades cuttin those off.

 

I got energy suspension bushings upper and lower. If you like to play with fire then this is the way to go! I went through 2 tanks of MAPP gas, once you get the first one done the rest are easy.

 

did the bushings come with the metal sleeves? My bolts are still stuck in the sleeves so I am going to need some new ones.

 

I looked up energy suspension and I can't find prices or where to buy. Where did you buy these?

 

I just noticed the footnotes and your picture. I need the lower bushings not the upper. Looks like I have to go dealer.

 

I got my bushings from North west off road (some folks here don't like them) I did the upper and lower.
No you will have to reuse the OEM steel. It's no big deal tho' I found a write up somewhere doing some googling and the process is real simple. You will have to burn the rubber out it's not that hard.

it's not the rubber that is the issue. The bolt that I cut off is still inside the sleeve.

 

I had the same thing happen to me. You can get PB Blaster in a gallon can. I soaked the ends of the control arm in a disposable roasting pan for a day and then I used my vice to push out the bolt. I had to get creative with some scrap parts and a real big hammer. it will come out with some persistance(sp)
