I was looking into TRD's Supercharger for the 3.4 with the 7th Injector Kit. Does anyone have both of these? I'd like to keep it under warrenty, does that mean I HAVE to have the dealer install both, and if so how much do both run installed? Most importantly is it worth the money? I dont drive like a mad man so the stock power of the 3.4 is fine but I would like knowing I had a lot in reserve. Also with the S/C do you need to run higher octance fuel in prevention of detonation? Thanks

Ryan my sister's boyfriend has a 99 taco TRD with a supercharger on it. He had it installed at the dealer I think he cost him about $750. I don't know if Toyota will waranty the S/C but I do know that it needs a higher octane to run.

You will need to run premium fuel. Sometimes that is even not enough... The 7th injector helps, but does not cure the supercharger's problems. But it's your only option if want to retain the warrantee on your engine.

If the dealer installs the charger/7th injector combo, the Toyota warrantee remains in force for the normal period, 60k/100k, whatever you purchased, including the charger and injector.

If you carry it out and install it yourself, it does not void the existing warrantee, but the coverage on the charger is only one year.

Heck yeah!

But if seriously, there is a pretty noticeable difference once you add S/C and even more difference with 7th injector kit. And you do need to run on 91 octane or higher. It also would be a good idea to add transmission cooler to prevent overheating.

As far as installation, S/C doesn't void warranty. The only difference is that if dealer installs everything, you'll have 100k or so warranty, including labor. Installed in a shop will run you 1/3 of the dealer price and you still have 1 year warranty, but only on parts. In other words, if something would go wrong you would have to take S/C out to get it fixed. But at the same time most shops can fix S/C on the spot. I had a friend of mine to install S/C with 7th injector for me and so far no problems at all.

I would suggest that you install it yourself. Like others have said, the engine, tranny, etc is still under the factory warrenty. I recommend getting the URD kit instead of the 7th injector kit. I have seen too many people complain about the 7th injector kit, and have yet to see anyone complain about the URD kit. I currently have neither, but I am planning on getting the URD kit sometime down the road.

I don't know what its worth, but a girl around here has that setup on a 02 runner 4x2 takes and she takes hers to the track. Shes in the low 9s on the 1/8th mile on street tires. You will be lighter so you'll probably get about that w/o the nos. The problem down here is heat soak. The N2O does a good job of cooling the air. Here is the last vid we made (my room-mate is the yellow volvo).

Cool video. I'd leave those decals off the Runner, make it one hell of a sleeper(at least for cars 13 seconds and up).

after much debate I think I invest the money into furniture.....I'm a new homeowner and didnt realize that a couch you actually like cost around 2k....then you still have to buy tables chairs more couches beds dressers etc etc etc....but once i get my house setup the way I want I'll probably do this myself....


what about flashing the ECU?...can you put the s/c on and take it to toyota and have the flash it?

No. Toyota sports one of the most closed ECUs in the trade. Add to it that Toyota doesn't think that there's really a "lean out" or "pinging" problem (they market the 7th injector as a way to get all the HP you can out of your SC'd engine) and they won't touch the stock ECU.

My friend said the 7th injector comes with an updated ecu, to help figure out what to do with all that extra fuel...

ya....according to www.trdusa.com the std supercharger will make 223 HP....and the Supercharger w/ TRD ECU will make 262 HP....big difference...thats not including the 7th injector kit...

Yeah, personally... I wouldn't go that wroute anyway... I like to keep fuel where it belongs... I'd get supra injectors and a bigger fuel pump before getting the 7th injector. But thats just me.

Yeup it does... But it runs as a piggyback to the stock one (just like the add-on boxes like the FTC1 or SMT).
