i was wondering which would be more realistic to purchase...i want more power on and off road. if i went with the ring and pinion set up i would go 5.29.

Definately Supercharge. I am supercharged on 33's and I feel way too short geared. I have a 5spd. manual I'd really hate it with 5.29's.

How big are your tires, 33 or 35x15.5?, I would regear first or else your engine will hate you, or your tranny if its automatic.

I would regear it.

what size tires are you running? 5.29's would be nice if your v6 auto, might be a little too much gearing with the 5speed, but not bad.

I'll be running5.29's when i regear for 35's

i'm going to say screw the sc. update and calibrate your exisiting components before adding new ones, there's never a better way. 4.88s should be just fine for your set up in my opinion. and while you're at it, pick up a hayden transmission cooler, reasonably priced and a great piece of insurance, especially in your case.

and chris, 35s and custom armor on a 2.7l? I know so far the power loss on your truck has been marginal but this is gonna kill you man.

I would S/C it first, you may want 4.88 with the blower and 5.29 when N/A.

Well it really comes down the the $$$.

If you have ~$500 - $1000 to spend then gearing is the way to go. If you have $~2000 to spend then get the supercharger.

I spent right at $2000 for my complete SC setup by searching for good deals but i also have some things you won't need.

Both of them will net you about the same real world effect with your truck, the SC will give you more power but with your large tires it will not feel like as much.

If you will be doing both for 100% sure then it doesn't really matter. Which ever one you find the best deal on first. If you can only get 1 though i would personally get the SC. There is just something about the SC whine that gears just can't do.

yes, gearing would help your gas milage but it is still going to be bad due to running 35's.

I dont think its gonna be bad, I scoot around pretty good now, I'll be running 200rpm's higher than I was stock with 5.29's and 35's.

Steve Schaffer run's 5.29's and 35's on ifs and swapped.

He just said they are 33's duffus, but 15.5. I would regear because it's auto.
