HAS ANYONE HAD A TRD SUPERCHARGER INSTALLED IN THEIR TACOMA? I WANT TO GET ONE BUT I HAVE HEARD THAT IF YOU GET ONE YOU HAVE TO BEEF UP AXLES AND OTHER STUFF TO HOLD THE POWER. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Justin, first, stop "SHOUTING", we can hear you just fine and all caps makes you look like you don't know what you are doing.

Your axles will be fine, I am not sure who told you that, but they don't know what they are talking about. However, you will want to beef up the fuel supply with larger injectors or a similar system to avoid incinerating your motor. Both TRD and URD offer kits that will accomplish this for you, which you go with will depend upon several factors, including how valuable your motor warantee is to you.

Spend some time searching here, TTORA and the web in general and you will find TONS of info on supercharging Tacomas and the mods required to do it right.

 

The supercharger needs and runs so much better when properly fueled and tuned.

TRD does not have a fuel suppliment available for your truck.

You may want to check out the info on my personal site and then the info on the URD site. Then make up your own mind what is best for you and your truck.

Ah, I just noticed it's a '97... so, as Mr. URD said, that leaves the only complete kit as the URD kit. Otherwise you can piece it together. Either way, upgrade the fuel system.

 

Pros- Extra power which makes a Taco/Runner actually pretty quick.
cons- $$3K+ with fuel upgrades and maybe a transmission valve upgrade which is another $1K. But you will be set after you spend the $4K.

 

Enjoy also using 91 octane will add to the cost, especially with todays gasprices.

Is your Valve Body gold plated? Its a little less then half of that actually.

 

Superchargers will cost you money, and yes they are expensive. I think those that don't have s/c are jealous of those that do.

I knew from the start a s/c would be expensive, which includes the gas. Like Gadget said FUN COST MONEY.

I'm jealous i don't have one but if the trd bolt on supercharger had no issues to begin with the tacoma, I'd buy one in a hearbeat.

Ya you'll be a little quicker. What sorta hacks me off about them is the fact that TRD is making hte money off of these yet they are also selling them as a one peice no hassle product when that is obviously not the case. Rant over.

Just be prepared to spend an extra G or so after you're done with the intital supercharger cost. If you can deal with that and feel the hp gains merit the cost, then go for it.

I don't have the valve upgrade but everything I have seen has been over 500$ installed. Like I said- everything included will be $4K.

 

hit up IPT he is transdude here on the board. The VB is around $400+ and then the install was $100 at Aamco.

 

Not true. It just depends on how much of sweet talker you are. The other night I got a female bartender to buy me 4 drinks. What did it cost me- $0. Just got to be smooth However pulling off a free supercharger may be a bit more of an undertaking
