(stupid question) How to identify SAS

I recently bought an 88 yota pickup 4wd, and I know that it should have IFS, but after seeing pics of solid axle trucks I am beginning to think that it may not be IFS. Being that I am not a suspension expert how would I identify an IFS suspension over a SAS?

Look to see if the front looks like the rear. Welcome to yotatech!

SAS = solid axle swap, its a verb/action.
SFA = solid front axle, a noun/object.

if you have leaf springs in the front (among other things) you have a SFA. if you have lower control arms on both sides, you still have the IFS.

Ah, ok, I was thinking SAS meant solid axle suspension.

The above picture looks like what I remember it having. If thats the case then maybe its worth the $800 I am paying for it.

It can. People use it for both Solid Axle Swap and Solid Axle Suspension. Both pretty much mean the same thing, one just implies that it didn't have a solid axle originally but now does or will.

Also SAS stands for solid axle suspension. I know i've seen it in a petersens 4x4 magazine. Both answers r right not trying to nickpick just share more info that's all. consider yourself lucky if u have a SAS

I got the truck home and after taking a closer look at it it is definitly IFS. Which I am fine with, only means I am not gonna do the 6" lift I wanted to do. Overall the truck body is pretty rough. Cab is solid, but the bed has been hacked and messed with to the point that it will probably need replaced. Frame is solid, and I verified that before I bought it. The truck runs and drives awesome, and I definilty believe its worth the $800 I paid for it. Anyone know how much a bed in decent condition usually runs? Thanks.

Why not do the lift you wanted? It's way cheaper than doing a SAS and in spite of what they say over on that 'other board' IFS can still get 'er done just fine on the trail for what 97.4% of everyone REALLY does with their rigs.
