Thumbs up Stubbs Sliders - Smooth Installation

My brother and I finally installed my Stubbs Sliders this weekend. It went really quick (only took a couple hours). We followed Richard's suggestion and used some frame reinforcement plates. To speed up the install we welded the plates to the sliders first and then were able to clamp the whole assembly to the frame.

Pic of the sliders clamped and ready for welding:

Finished product:

Here's a few more pics and write-up:

Looking good, another SSS (Stubb's Success Story)
What kind of paint did you use on them?

Hey, I notice you are using MontyPics, and everyone else who is, the pics take so darn long to come in, even on cable here.
It's been doing that for a few weeks.

Paint: Just enamel. I used expensive "tough" paint on the sliders on my last rig and it all scraped off. This time i decided to use regular paint and just recoat it annually.

Montypics: Yup, it seems like it's been slow ever since I sent in my membership. :pat: The pics in my geocities write-up come in much quicker. I am still looking for a better alternative to montypics (ie fast AND cheap).

I'll be testing the sliders out next week in Montana!

You can use Geocities to show your pics here, there is a workaround.

See "YotaTech on the web" in the Community section, then scroll down on that page for Pic & Avatars.
There is an URL you put in front of your Geo or Webshots address for the pic, and the pic will show up here.

Ooops, just realized I have a link to the Pic help on the Community page

I'll try your pic here from Geocities.

EDIT:
See your bandwidth was getting eaten up from your link getting clicked on, so the pic also was not showing up here.
Anyway, Webshots would be a good alternative too, since the pics can now be seen in posts here, and there is no bandwidth issue with them.

Hey transalper, nice work. Great-looking 4Runner!

Curious: w/o mud flaps on the front do you notice a lot of rocks spitting at the sides of your truck?

Thanks. Yes, the sides of my tuck get nailed with a lot of gunk. i plan to add some rubber flaps. Nothing too long though so they don't get torn off. I have to swap out the rear ones as well. The stock ones will get torn off by some rock sooner or later.

Yo...

How much did those sliders set you back? I bet shipping is a pain too. Stubbs got a website? I know I could search for it, but this is a current thread and I'm lazy.

Stubbs prices his sliders very competitively. Prices now are around $240 plus shipping ($20-?). He did a great group buy for Yotatech a month or so after I ordered mine (they've been sitting in my garage for a while). Watch for his stuff on ebay.

All the info you need is here: www.stubbswelding.com
