Hi guys newby here.

My 97' SR5 has about 90k on it and is in great shape. At 50k I had a spark plug shange and new pads on the front brakes, that is it. no other work at all.

However I would like to tighten it up some, for highway and in town racing/driving .

Can anyone suggest suspension mods that will give a more sporty ride??



Can I get away with new sway bars, or will special shocks and springs help too?


Very little off road except for a few trips down the beach to fish in the fall. Also I don't think I want to lift it as I am prone to roll it in high speed cornering.

 

Beleve it or not, I have found off road shocks do wonders for on road driving because they are more prograsive. This means less body roll and compression for cornering and breaking wile still yelding a smooth ride. I have sky jackers on and am pleased with the improvemetn over the stock shocks.

 

are you looking to lower it? poly bushings on the body and the swaybars will help out a lot with responsiveness on the street..... honestly, its a truck, and i wouldnt try to drive it fast doing cornering for that reason... its a truck, and trucks have more tendency to roll than cars... if you want to go fast and be daring on the streets, get a car that can handle that

 

high speed cornering??? why did you buy a 4runner?



ill be watching this thread though, cause i think im gonna go for new shocks soon as well.

 

Bilsteins have never let me down, but they might lift the rig slightly (1/2"). If you need high speed cornering ability, lower it or get a car.

Another aspect not to be overlooked is the tires. You may want to go low profile for your application, but be forewarned that will look lame at stock height.

Yea, I have pictures of my skyjackers too. I really really like these.. I have never herd anything bad about them other than the price of 50 bones each.
